         <description><![CDATA[<div>oxygen, Oxygen is a gas that your body needs to function properly. Your cells need oxygen to produce energy. Your lungs absorb oxygen from the air you breathe. It then enters the blood from the lungs and travels to your body organs and tissues.&nbsp;<br>Oxygen is a key element in organic chemistry, as it forms part of water (H2O), oxides, living beings and almost all acids and organic substances. It is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that is highly reactive and essential for respiration.<br>The oxygen atom has 8 electrons. According to the distribution of valence electrons, the first 2 electrons would go in shell 1, the next 6 in shell 2. (see distribution of electrons in atom). 8 electrons are needed to complete shell 2 and for it to be stable.</div>]]></description>
