I really like all of the changes that have occurred to schools throughout time. I enjoy the technology advancements however, it does make it hard for students without access to contribute. I wish that schools would try to encourage students in regular courses to challenge themselves in higher level courses. I really do not feel like this is occurring in schools today!

Staying in school can lead you to many different places by simply to sticking to programs you like and meeting people who can lead you further into your dreams. The thing that has changed in my time is the price and cost of attending school. In the future, I'd soon enough like to see the cost and price of schooling go down. I feel more people should be allowed to go to school and continue to get educated in their field.

I believe that not every teacher should have been one. Only the people who care should. One thing that has changed in my school is the offering of paid college courses. In elementary my experience was great, my teachers were patient and kind but they also had rules. It’s crazy to say that I liked the rules. I liked the idea of having a set date and time on how I do something. It’s something you’re actually going to use in the real world. In high school and middle school teachers mainly taught you to pass the STAAR test. Not so much so you can learn anything else. I would really liked if this changed. Students today need to learn about the real world and how it works.

What I like about school right now, is that I had many enlightened experiences with extra curricular activities. I was in sports most of my life, so I learned some skills that I would’ve never learned if I didn’t go to school. I love being a team player and working towards a common goal with people that are as driven as me. There is always room for improvement in our school system, more accommodations could be put in place so for those who need it. I would love to see a more personalized school system. In which there are programs personalized for each student and to their liking. Not everyone learns at the same pace, so doing this could encourage kids to continue into getting a higher education.

Also, the curriculum, assignments, and assessments provided college readiness even though we were only in elementary and middle school. There wasn’t so much attention and pressure on the standardized test, this let the teacher focus and us, the students, and not the rest. I wish public school would follow that example, especially when it came to the pressure of passing the STAAR.

It allows students to expand their knowledge of the world around them and prepare them for a further education if they wish to go on to pursue a career that requires a college degree. School has changed from before where now teachers focus on meeting the education needed to pass a state test rather than to benefit the actual student. For the future I hope there is an open mind for students who really are unable to attend school due to certain circumstances, maybe allowing them a more flexible schedule to better suit their needs.

When I was in school teachers would have a certain deadline to teach a certain topic. If you didn’t understand it by then you weren’t going to do so great when you would be tested on that portion. The amount of students who prefer to learn and excel to those who feel aren’t cut out for it for various reasons such as limited span of attention or the teachers are too fast or vise versa the student is too slow. This proves how the attendance is affected those who excel will more than likely have a higher attendance and acceptance rate into any school of the students choosing than than of one with low attendance rates. To helps those who are deemed unteachable we must invoke the No Child Left Behind Act and find a way to teach those who have no answers to why they do so poor.

The schooling as it is right now is nearly perfect, the school system teaches the minimum basics for someone to be studying and settle good in society. The biggest change I have seen is the use of technology such as ipads and tablets in elementary school, I believe children in the early education grades should limit their time on these devices as it can definitely make them less prone to using traditional methods of technology such as projectors, written assignments and etc. More classes that focused on life related curriculum's, for example a class that would teach you how to save your money and pay taxes, or a class in which they demonstrated how to work on a car, even a class on how to cook basic dishes would be good. These are only a few of many more curriculum's which would benefit students in the long run rather than putting them in another chemistry class.

I also like the use of technology, how we save paper by just simply turning in assignments online. Something that has changed over the years is the use of technology, sometimes I wish it could just go back to how things used to be without phones. I know that what I just stated contradicts what I said prior to this, it is just saddening to me. One thing though that I wish would change, is the students' attitudes towards learning. To me I don't really notice excitement in the children's faces when attending class.

What I liked about my k-12 experience was the personalized learning. I remember when I came into kindergarten I did not know a word of English so I was place in a speech class from kindergarten to 1st grade. Before the students had to adapt to the classroom & keep up with the other students, but now the teacher adapts to your learning preferences or disabilities. Something I have seen first hand that has changed in elementary schools is that they do put a lot of pressure not only on to the students but also the teachers. They never catch a break and the kids don’t have as much fun as I did when I was it elementary. I know school isn’t just fun & games, but the memories I had in elementary I still hold dearly today. I would like to change the focus on all these test and deadlines & allow the students express their creatives sides or just learn a fun lesson about how the holidays came to be. Because I heard they don’t teach about thanksgiving anymore. Something I would like to change in the future is to give more focus to the kids that are in the middle. They aren’t getting challenged enough when they had great potential.

It would be so frustrating in high school because our schedule was out of our control, and any important plans could only be dealt with after school ended.
The school lunch changed drastically in my opinion. In elementary, I remember it being so good that I would even take a dollar so I could get seconds! But in middle school and high school, it became so bland; I wish they had never changed the school lunch.
One thing I would like to see a change in is to stop the constant pressure teachers had to put on us to pass state exams like the STAAR. Such as free college credit classes, paid advanced placement exams, free books, and assigned computers and/or devices that help us do our work in case a student didn’t have one at home. School districts have done well in keeping up with today’s technology, they use it to their advantage. In the past, dress code was not enforced to a student nor teacher so that is something I wish stayed like before. One thing I would change for the future is the start time. I always believed going to school at 7:45 am is tiring for a child especially when they are getting out of school at 6pm due to extra curricular activities. A later start time would be a change I would like to see in the future.

I'm really glad we have a lot of opportunities in school to better yourself and get ahead from everyone else. Free college classes, free tests like the SAT, TSI, and ACT, and AP classes are all examples of ways that you can make your time in high school really count, only if you take advantage of what's being given to you.
I don't really see a difference in school the years I've been there other than the food.
Something that should change is the way kids who are absent a lot are dealt with. To be honest, attendance contracts don't really do much or affect us because sometimes you don't even complete them or turn them in and no one tells you anything. I feel like kids should be taken to court after the first couple absences because that actually kind of did scare me (even though I still didn't have to pay anything or do community hours like the other kids there). Taking real action as soon as they see a problem will change the problem with us missing school so much.

What I enjoyed about my district is the opportunities that are offered. Dual Credit and AP courses are a great way to save money. They offer students college credit without them having to pay for the actual course itself. AP classes only give you the credit if the exam is passed by the student. There is not much change I want to see in the future because I believe the school district I went to is already headed in that direction. What I mean is I really appreciate the fact that dual credit exists and each year it gets better. I always hear about the older generation being surprised about the amount of courses being offered for dual credit. I hope my kids can someday come across this great opportunity.

What I really enjoyed as a child being in a public school is the way the teachers were well prepared and really committed to their work. They made learning fun and encourage us from a very young age to participate in school activities. Once I move to private school for middle school, there was a slight difference, however the teachers were still as a gaged in their work as my previos teachers. Once in middle school we were allowed to have iPads with us, since new work as being assigned through web sites. I feel that in schools, technology should be an essential, since it can be very useful to teach students and for them to interact and at the same time they get to learn about the new technology and become familiar with it.

There was a safe environment, A/C throughout the whole school, the food was free rather than sold, and the learning pace was easy to catch up and actually learn. Something I wish had stayed the same was the dessert that was included with lunch. Although I hope for better things to happen in the future such as exploring new ways to teach the students rather than boring them with self teaching or long lectures.

These opporunities save us time and money. The fact the teachers are so well prepared and trained to make our learning experience awesome makes me want to go back to high school to relive that experience. I wouldn't really change anything about school, if it changed something maybe its because its better for the students and teachers. I hope that district keeps improving and still offer these opporunities for the future generations to come.

Most if not all of the teachers I had were really engaging with the class as a whole, and also with the students they saw one on one like me. As we went on to middle school and high school we had to start taking even more state tests that would pull focus from the level of engagement the teacher had in the classroom. It may work with the older students but the ones in elementary are so focused on a tests that when they're in kinder they start to prepare them, thus, not getting so much education in. I would change the amount of state tests the students take just so they can have a more engaging education rather than a strict one.

As of today, there is an enormous amount of qualities I love about schooling. To begin with, the vast opportunities in classrooms to exemplify good learning outcomes, behavior and overall great classroom settings for students. A few years ago, when I was 12 years of age, to be more specific, I moved to this country; United States of America. Undergoing this 360 degree shift in my life made me encounter many situations, such as admiring every small detail of the education system in the country of the brave. I love being able to feel safe, happy and peaceful. By virtue of providing a safe ambiance, established classrooms with brick walls, a/c conditioning, and great technology. Moreover, the nutritional plans offered at public schools; warm, free and healthy meals. In addition, acquiring well-rounded certified teachers, professionals, individuals;thus, offering students the best learning experience. Furthermore, "Changes brings opportunity" - Nido Quebein. This quote exemplifies change is good, and for the better. I am a firm believer of changes. If there would not be any in the United States School System how will we be able to know what is best for students? Changes provide great outcomes, in order to keep on improving this magnificent school system. To conclude, I do not wish anything has stayed like before. However, I do observe a great future by implementing more arts and sports extracurricular activities offered at schools. Such as an orchestra, piano classes, bad-minting, broom-ball, among other fine arts and sports which are not established in schools. I believe adding these great programs will be of a great opportunity for students to identify, enjoy and de-stress themselves.

Schools of today, in contrast to schools in the past, are more free and liberal. In a way, that anyone is able to freely express their own different opinions and thoughts on different subjects. One was not able to express their feelings comfortably in the past. Another thing that is good about schools today, is that a student can learn anything they want to know more about. It is encouraged in today’s society to have more knowledge, however as in the past, everything that was being taught was controlled/restricted. One thing that I would like to see in schools, more specifically in high schools is how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and how to manage things that come with turning into an adult.

Nothing has really changed besides the fact that we don't have that safety net we had in public schooling, we rely completely on ourselves but that's something I actually like. Technology allows our students' cognitive muscles to work and become more active when it comes to classwork or easy access to studying. One thing that I do wish stayed like before, is working physically as well. Now a days, schools are handing our chrome books to their students and allowing them to take it home or even work for their computers. In my opinion, students are forgetting how to actually work with a pencil--mind the fact, i worked with fifth graders and kindergartners and half of them shared the same penmanship. I just wish, for the future, that technology should not take an enormous role in our children's educating life.

Allayza Ugarte What I like about today’s education system is that their is room for growth. There are so many opportunities for us available that weren’t available back then. For example, we have access to tutors for extra help, we have access to the internet, books, and to teachers who are usually more than willing to help students with anything they are struggling with. What I also like is that we are more accepting than back then. We accept that there is not only one race but many races that make up the world and we can share our school experiences with them and learn about each other’s cultures in the process. I believe education has made great advancements so there is no need to go back to the way it was. One thing I would like to see in the future is that college becomes affordable for many. There are many young, bright, intelligent kids who don’t have the resources possible for an education and have been forced to stay in minimum-wage jobs and can never achieve their dreams.

Something great about the public school system is that they provide the resources and tools needed to help students complete tasks much more easily. For example, if students do not have access to a computer or laptop to complete homework online, the school districts allow students to borrow Chromebooks from the school. It is very helpful, especially during these difficult times we are currently in. Students are also granted access to textbooks that are required for certain courses; the best part is that they are free of charge. One thing I would like to see change is the amount of time students spend at school. Eight hours at school is too much, especially because there are many courses taken throughout the day. If it was maybe reduced to about five or six hours, students would have more time to themselves. It would not just be free time, as students would have more time and opportunities to finish homework sooner and become more involved in other school activities, such the band program, a sport, or any UIL activities they wish to be a part of. For those students who are in high school and able to work, they have more opportunities to save up money for their college studies, especially because college is not inexpensive. The extra time is also helpful for students to get good night's rest, which is needed to concentrate and remain focused at school.

The education system now has definitely changed for the better in the way of discrimination and opportunities. During the years being discriminated in the system has diminished, everyone is able to have the opportunity to learn without having to worry about their gender, race or sexual orientation. Also, the opportunities the school gives out are a lot. For example, if a student doesn't have a computer the school might lend one out for the student. This helps the student to not feel that they are less than any other student and makes them not lose interest in studying.

What I like about the education system nowadays is the resources they provide for the students who come from low income families. For example how if students don't have a laptop or Chromebook at home the school will let them borrow one so they can do their virtual learning as well as Wi-fi. Another one is how all students qualify for free lunch. But most importantly how it offers equality for everyone not just one ethnicity. Letting our children grow into productive citizens that use their knowledge, talents, and learned skills to help themselves and others.
