Are all Canadians equal and treated with equal rights? Jess

Canada is a pretty good place to live. Free health care, nice people, hockey teams; its standard of living is much higher than a lot of other counties in our world. Needless to say, I think a majority of the time, Canadian citizens are treated equally and have access to the same rights as any other citizen. Although, there is another part of me that knows that people of specific race, religion, sexuality, gender and origin face other issues that some don’t. I know this because I have witnessed acts of discrimination myself- racial slurs directed at one another, little things like picking someone last for a team because of who they are, and other offensive acts. These tiny examples explain that yes, Canada is pretty fair and equal for most, but most isn’t everyone.

Tyler

I believe that Canada is equal to all of its people and are fair to everyone. I believe this is true for on multiple occasions of crisis Canada has been the first county to respond. This is also true as if you look at Canada you see a multi cultural country that accepts everyone from all different races and cultures. First example of this is when Syria was under attack by ISIS and Canada opened its doors to let thousands of Syrian refugees fleeing the war int the country. Second example is how poor or rich in Canada no one will ever go hungry unless they choose to as there are plenty of kitchens that make food for the poor every day. Lastly, example is how no matter the color of your skin you have the same rights as the person beside you always and you are always treated properly like everyone else. To elaborate on that point, if you are ever in trouble with the law for committing a crime and you believe you are being wrongly accused you always have an option to hire a defence attorney to try and fight your case. During the prosecution you will also be treated the same as the last person was who committed a crime and given a fair punishment if it comes down do that.

They don’t dive each other equal rights. For example, the Indian act is an example of not having equal rights. It says what the indigenous people can or can’t do. Unlike other people, they can do whatever they want, when they want to do it.

We live in the world that no one is treated equally, because not everyone is the same. We have seen many cases of people being treated unfairly and I’m saying everyone. There are groups that have been not fairly treated and now have been given way too many rights then they should have. And treated unfairly like bullying, getting made fun of in public, and not getting something because of who you are.
:Symon ;)

Ryland

I believe that everyone in Canada is treated equally. I believe this because as a Canadian citizen, I see and hear about a lot of things the government is doing to keep everyone equal. I feel this way because even if you are rich you can’t skip the people in line at the Hospital. This happens because everyone has free health care, so it wouldn’t be right for a rich person to move a head of a poor person just because they can pay for it. Also, if you are poor there are soup kitchens that you can visit to make sure you are eating. Soup kitchens are a good way to make sure that every Canadian has a meal every day, so they don’t die. Another reason Canadians are treated equally is that rich or poor you can go to school and get educated. This is used so that if a family doesn’t have money their children can still learn and someday get a job.

For example, some people believe just because we are female we can’t do some things guys can do, another reason is that there are some people that feel that because you have a different skin colour than me we can’t use the same thing or share it. Further more I think Canada is one of the places that are more advanced in equal rights, I know that none is perfect but there are still a lot people can do to make everyone feel welcomed.

Equal Rights

I think this statement isn’t true because not everybody in Canada has equal rights. There are some previews of equal rights for everybody but not everybody has it all the time. I have this opinion because I see it happening sometimes around the city. Some citizens in Canada can’t get a job they want either based on their appearance or just the way of their culture. For example, some companies don’t like ladies to wear a Hijab even though it’s a part of their religion and way of life. Some airports check people if they look apart from people even if they are just regular people like everyone else. I have seen this happen before when I was travelling somewhere. Canada is a very nice place to live but without everybody having equal rights it is not as good as it could be. Canada has improved I see people at school that are either black, Hispanic or Asian that have the exact same opportunities as I do.

Gav

Maryam

S-I believe sometimes this is true in Canada.

E-because sometimes people get different options and different opinions.

R- For example sometimes different cultures are treated differently and don’t get what others get and also there is racism all over the world. Some people say there isn’t any racism in Canada but there is racism everywhere. Racism makes a difference in equality too weather you are in Canada or any other country. People get treated differently because of their skin colour and their religion, which is not fair. Lastly Canada let thousands of Syrians come to Canada because ISIS attacked them.

We live in a world where no matter how hard the government tries to make everyone treat each other fairly and equally some people will always bully someone or take advantage of them. I however do believe that there is equality in the world, but we however do not have equal rights. We all come from different places in the world, we are all different colors and we all have different believes. Depending on someone’s belief, their believes could lead them to believe that their religion is more superior to other religion and this leads them to treat people unequal even if they have the same rights as they do, they don’t believe that they deserve those rights, so they could do things like try to take away these rights from them.

Stacey

I believe that everyone should beequal and should have equal rights, but many are not treated equally or do not have the same equal rights as others. In my opinion people discriminate others and do not treat them equally, also some are richer and some are poorer than others, which does not make them equal. Everyone has the same equal rights but some people are charged or sentenced even more than they should be because of your race, religion or appearance. Firstly, people of different races get judged by others and discriminated. Secondly, money and wealth do not make people equal cause many people have money and some have none, this doesn't treat people equally cause many people will think they're better than others that are living on the street or poorer than them. Thirdly, jobs also discriminate female and males, many jobs are only for women and other jobs for men.
