I am Mr Bond, writing to you about my findings on the Romans.  I have come to know that :

How was the Roman army organised ?(pg6)

There about 3000 000 soldiers in the Roman army. The soldiers were divided into groups called legions. A legion contained about 5000 soldiers. The legions were split into groups of 80 and each group was called a century. The century was then split into ten groups of eight soldiers.

How did the solders fight? (pg7)

The soldiers fought in a tightly packed group.  They marched slowly towards the enemy, holding their shields in front of them for protection.  When the enemy threw rocks or spears at them, they lifted their shields above their heads for protection.  When they got near to the enemy, the soldiers threw their spears, took out their swords and ran at the enemy.  They sometimes used cavalry (soldiers on horses) to hunt down enemy soldiers ran away.

What special weapons do they use? (Pg7)

The army used larger weapons such as the ballista, the battering ram and the onager.

Why did the Romans invade Britain ? (pg9)

The Romans invade Britain because the Roman emperor at the time of the invasion was called Claudius.  He was unhappy that some of the Celts had been helping tribes in France fight against the Romans.  The Romans were also looking for resources such as land, iron, lead, zinc, copper, silver and gold.

What does a Roman town have ?(pg10)

A Roman town have farms, theatre, river, forum, basilica, houses, watch towers, high walls, bathhouse, cemetery, gatehouse and stadium.

Who could be a Roman soldier? (pg12)

Only men were allowed in the Roman army.

What uniforms do they wear ?(pg12)

They wear armour, metal helmet, hard leather skirt and scandals.

What made the Roman empire end ?(pg16-17)

The Roman empire end because of poor leadership, the empire is attacked, running out of money, the empire was too big and the Roman army became weaker.
