Although she went to school, this prevented her from getting a job, buying a car, or obtaining a mortgage. Jane was effectively stuck. Although this story is fictional, this is a very real phenomenon that happens to thousands of people throughout America.

COVID-19 information is everywhere she/he looks. Every day on the news, cases and deaths are reported and the Covid vaccine is promoted again and again as more variants develop. She/he is, of course, fully vaccinated with boosters as well, and trusts that the CDC has tested and studied the new vaccine well enough to administer it to the public. In some places, the vaccine is mandatory, though some still refuse to get it. “Why?” She/he wonders, “The vaccine is a lifesaver and protects people from Covid.” She/he puts this thought in the back of her/his mind and carries on, blissfully unaware of what the Covid vaccine REALLY is and the TRUE validity of the mandates.

Divorce can hurt everyone involved, but the pain can be reduced. As a friend of a divorced couple, you can let them lean on you when things are dire. Let them openly talk about their divorce to you at any time. Give them feedback and overall try to lessen the blow a little. At the beginning of the article, you could tell the women in an abusive relationship to go and see a counselor or talk to someone in a successful marriage. If she is ready, you should advise her to test out the waters by going on a date to learn for herself if the dating world is agonizing like she once perceived it. As a divorced parent, you can say that you are getting a divorce in a reassuring voice. Afterwards, they are sure to have questions, so try to answer all of them to the best of your abilities, but if any of them make you emotional, you can seek help from other people involved in the marriage. If you don’t have anybody to lean on, you can seek help from places like (https://ct.counseling.org/2015/04/family-centered-child-inclusive-divorce/), which offer divorce counseling to the whole family. I digress. Why are marriage rates lowering? Are marriage rates dropping because children have learned from their divorced parents that marriage is a slippery slope, steer away from marriage? Or simply because nobody wants to stick with one person their entire life? What do you think?

Anecdotal Lead

She had enough of all the fighting and abuse. She could not stand her husband's aggressive ways. When she confronted him about getting a divorce, he responded in a violent tone, “NO WE’RE NOT GETTING A DIVORCE. I WOULD BE IN DEBT. OUR DAUGHTER WILL BE FOREVER SCARRED! HOW DARE YOU EVER SAY THAT!” He continued to verbally attack her. The next day she went to a counselor to get advice on how to leave the marriage peacefully, with no scars. The counselor advised her to go back and live at her parent's house with her kid for a while until things settled down. She followed the counselor’s instructions and over that year the couple divorced. She raised her 8-year-old daughter with the help of her parents and her daughter never married. She didn’t want to wind up like her mother, trapped in an abusive relationship.

The last-minute goal, an interception, or even a 3-pointer to win the game. Doing these in any school events can make you a hero for your school. However, if someone misses any of these crucial plays, they will be embarrassed for a long period of time. School sports are a very interesting and fun way for students to learn and enhance many different skills. Even though there are some benefits, there are also some controversies and whether schools should have sports or not.

She thought it was for a school project. She thought they were friends. But mostly, she thought she would be safe in her own home. She wasn’t. When Dalton Walker stepped foot into Leila Johnson’s house, Johnson started to set up her living room to work on the school project assigned to the two of them. Walker followed close behind her, suddenly grabbing ahold of her hair and yanking it downward. Johnson immediately lunged for the door, but Walker roughly grabbed her shoulder and dug his nails into her skin. He punched her face and blood streamed down from her nose. A shriek escaped her mouth, but Walker quickly cut it off when he closed his fingers around her throat. Luckily for Johnson, her father finished work early and barreled into the room when he heard his daughter’s scream. Bart Johnson shoved Walker to the door, pinning his hands and feet together while Johnson ran to the phone. Ten minutes later, Walker sat, cuffed, in a police car, screaming at the officers that “women were meant to do housework!” and that “females shouldn’t be educated because they are stupid!” After further inquiry, the police discovered that Walker felt jealous of Leila’s academic skill and embarrassed that “a girl was smarter than him.” But thousands of females across the world aren’t as lucky as Johnson. Thousands of females across the world don’t have a “Bart Johnson” to interfere. And thousands of females across the world face worse than what Johnson did.

They were chased, harassed, threatened and yet received the littlest of help. Melissa Murry and Fiona Mya were simply walking when a man who was riding on a bike harassed them, then proceeded to threaten them and chase them for 20 blocks. Just by walking in the streets of Maryland, they had to run away from a man who targeted them because of their race. When they were in contact with authorities, they received no help. After asking to increase patrol in the area of the hate crime, the police simply denied their request. On a Wednesday evening, two Asian Americans were walking the streets outside of a musical center. But they wouldn’t know what would happen to them soon after.

As Carmen walks out of school to meet her friends, she realizes that everyone’s faces are down. Carmen sees her friends waving high, but they don’t wave back. When she reaches them, she asks, “What are you doing?” Her friends say that their texting on SnapChat. Carmen asks what SnapChat is. All of her friends are shocked. One of her friends asked, “How do you not know what SnapChat is?” Carmen tells them how her parents told her that she’s not allowed to have social media. Her friends continue to text and post on SnapChat, as she just stands there, feeling left out. A few days later, Carmen tells her friends how she got SnapChat. Her friends knew that she wasn’t allowed to use social media and ask why she got SnapChat. Carmen says that she wanted to and that she can feel included in more things. That didn’t end up happening for Carmen. A few months later after she got SnapChat, Carmen became less active. She became lonely, depressed, sad, and negative. She drifted away from her friends and just talked on social media instead of interacting in person. Many people face social media problems like this fictional story. Social media can affect relationships, health, the way you feel, and more. Once you get social media, things may happen when you least expect it. You can start the school year with great friendships and relationships, and by the end of the year, you can lose those friendships and relationships.

Two girls, two different treatments. She took to Twitter, in utter disbelief on how a fellow olympiad athlete and figure skater was allowed to compete but not her. They both had similar circumstances. But, one was a Black American Runner who stayed infurious on the bleachers, while the other happily danced on the ice. Last summer, Track and Field Sprinter Skylar was kicked off the Tokyo Olympics, because she consumed marijuana. However, Russian Figure Skater Amelia tested positive for a performance enhancing drug and was still allowed to compete. There has to be a double standard here. Within no time, Skylar began to question if there was a difference between the situations. Even though the consumption of drugs may not have been the most appropriate choice, with the stress of her mother dying, this was her way to cope, only to be reprimanded, discriminated against, and taken off of Team USA. It’s all in the skin. It might all be because she is black. Nevertheless, bringing the situation online showed that racism is alive, especially in the sports world. Every act that has had online attention brought to it, has helped steadily increase efforts to eliminate racism. Especially what Skylar went through. It just shouldn’t be fair. Skylar Smith’s experience with racism has changed her forever, but she is not alone.

Jen was so excited! She came home later that day and her parents told her that sports teams and fields are being closed down for 2 months due to spikes in Covid Cases. Jen couldn’t believe it, the season was over, everything she worked for, and now she couldn't even train because fields are closed. She had to wait for more than 2 months and had to train at home everyday, which was so mentally tough because there were no teammates, less space, and no motivation. This was a super hard time in her life that took a lot of effort and strength, determination and discipline to overcome.

She sits there, listening. Tears roll down her face as she feels upset and useless. There’s rarely a time when there isn’t any arguing. Until one day, there wasn't. One day, her dad isn’t here anymore. One day, she sees piles of papers with thousands of words on them. This one day, if only she knew, changed her life forever.

Sitting at her desk, 8th grader Kaylie Montweather feels good. Yesterday was the mid-year math exam and she thinks she did well on it, maybe at least an 85 to boost her marking-period average. The teacher walks around the desks handing back the tests. Kaylie is nervous when the teacher places the paper face down on her desk. Quickly, she flips it over–and her stomach drops. A 63. Red pen marks are all over the paper and little notes of feedback. For the rest of the day, Kaylie feels disappointed, stressed, and upset. How will she boost her grade? What did she do so wrong? Feeling bitter, she wonders, what’s the point of grades?

Kaylie Montweather is only one of the many students who have felt the disappointment of getting a bad grade. No one likes them and it adds so much stress to students. But educators are starting to consider Kaylie’s final question.

Soon, his exercise time started decreasing. He would stop playing outside with his friends and spend basically his whole day just playing on the computer and watching tv. He was addicted to screen time. And he started becoming unhealthy with barely any exercise. In summer of 2018, Kent Klayman got addicted to screen time and slowly became very unhealthy. But he isn't the only one that got addicted to screen time. Many others in this world are getting addicted day by day, and we need to do something to decrease it.

She would get stuck in the middle. Every time they didn’t fight she fought with her mother. Daughter of Michael and Joanne Smith, Elizabeth Smith was being raised in a toxic household. Mental health issues increased and her life started to crumble. People kept telling her that she changed, family members and friends didn’t recognize her anymore. She knew it was taking a toll on her but she didn’t want to say anything, she suffered in silence. She was just hoping that her parents came to the decision of getting a divorce on their own.

As a new day dawns, teens worldwide begin their vastly different daily routines. But at least one thing remains constant in their morning procedures: checking their phone. Whether its after they get up, before they brush their teeth, or after they shower, this universal ritual is naturally consistent with the majority of teens worldwide, giving unknown cyberbullies an abundance of opportunities to attack. As teens commence their scrolling and surfing through the numerous social media apps on their smartphone, they may find notifications from several of these platforms. The notifications, they discover, are from unwarranted cyberbullies who have begun their assault in response to a harmless post the user may have contributed to some random discussion. A full-on attack is merely just moments away.

Teens worldwide continue to fall prey to relentless cyberbullies on a daily basis.

He had had enough. School was too much for him. School wasn’t even the worst part. It was homework. The homework had increased a lot over the past couple days and his head was spinning. Today he had gotten five assignments from every single class. They weren’t small assignments either. He had been working on his work for the last four hours and he was nowhere close to being done. Not to mention he also had a project due in a couple days. He had too much work to do and not enough time. He was completely stressed out by the situation and had no one to help. He was surviving just on Red Bull and coffee because he hadn’t slept for more than three hours for the last week. He doubted he would even get any sleep today. Having too much work and no help to get him through this, he gave up on school. He didn’t know what to do and just quit school, all because of the stress it caused him. This is the story of Spencer Harry who loves school but hated homework only due to the fact that he got too much of it.

She walks down the hallway to her first period class: P.E. She shuffles toward the gymnasium door, her fingers stretching out for the handle, when she stops, as suddenly as if someone had just doused her with a bucket of freezing water, water containing ice-cold memories that flood her mind. Images flash before her eyes: the laughter of her classmates, as she struggles to dribble a basketball from one side of the gym to the other… angry yells as she instinctively dives out of the way of an incoming volleyball and lets it hit the floor… her teacher scribbling a big fat zero on his clipboard as she desperately swings her hockey stick for the ball and misses by a mile… She stands there for a moment, and then seems to make up her mind. She turns her back on the dreaded classroom door and strides back the way she came. She pushes open the front doors to the school and steps outside, letting them swing closed behind her. She hesitates one last time, then sets off for home, without looking back once. She can’t face the prospect of P.E. today. She just can’t. This fictional scenario may seem extremely exaggerated, but sadly, it’s the truth for many teens across the country. Everyone is familiar with the occasional athletic fumble in P.E., whether it be witnessed or experienced, but in some cases, the demeaning comments, embarrassment, and low grades can be too much to bear.

It wasn’t always obvious. In 2018 an app named Tik Tok came out and it just seemed like another one of the many mindless apps for teens. The app was mostly filled with teens lip syncing to popular songs with other miscellaneous short clips. Yet, very soon after it came out the app blew up in popularity. If you were to look around, everyone was watching Tik Tok, and it remains like that today. The app could be seen in ads, graffiti, and even Fortnite. Behind it all was a secret formula, instant entertainment, constant dopamine rushes, and unlimited content. Nothing could even compete. This is when Tik Tok took over the world.

She knew that social media has both positive and effects on people who use it. But when she thought about how it was affecting her, she realized that it was impacting her negatively. She felt very insecure about herself during or after using social media. She felt her mind thinking negative thoughts that were bad for her, which caused her to change her mindset about a lot of things. Only a couple of hours on social media each day. Those couple of hours changed the way she viewed herself for a very long time. During the middle of 2020, a student from Central Middle School changed the way she viewed herself just by spending a couple of hours each day on social media. Social media has a balanced effect of positive and negative on teens. Although the effects of either side are endless, it is up to us to decide which path we are going to take. Are we going to take the positive path or the negative route?

As she walked back home from school she felt disappointed, how did she let her grade drop so low? She needed to calm herself down when she got home so she decided to scroll through TikTok. Feeling relaxed and happy, her time flew. 2 hours have passed and her hours' of homework are still in her bag. Her stomach began to growl, but she wouldn't let herself eat; she needed to lose weight. Her last TikTok only got 200 likes she needed more. Finally, after hours of procrastinating and ignoring she finally began her homework at 11:00 PM. Struggling with her homework, she asked a friend for answers through Snapchat. 1 hour has passed since she completed her homework. 2 or more hours worth of homework completed unorganized, incomplete in half the time. Finally, after taking a long shower she goes to bed with her phone in her hand scrolling through social media once again. Hours later she notices the time (3:00 AM) and regrets her decision. She then goes to school knowing that tomorrow's day will be the same.

Censorship. Censorship plays a big role in the news. It’s what people can’t see. And the saying “What you can’t see can't hurt you” doesn’t apply here. Oxford University Press’s Lexico Online Dictionary defines “censorship” as: “The suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security” (https://www.lexico.com/en/definition/censorship). If the mainstream media and Big Tech Companies are the only ones who decide what people see, the effect will be, and already is, detrimental. Many people simply use Google or turn on the news, where censorship runs rampant, but there are alternatives. The Epoch Times, for example, is the “fastest-growing independent news media in America” and is “free from the influence of any government, corporation or political party” (https://www.theepochtimes.com/). An alternative to YouTube is the video sharing platform Rumble, a neutral platform “immune to cancel culture” (https://rumble.com/). So maybe America just needs more open discussion. Maybe America just needs to allow researchers to question existing science, without fear of censorship. Maybe America just needs more REAL news. Who knows? Only time will tell.

For example Aspens Project Play (https://www.aspenprojectplay.org/) is helping many kids “Project Play’s Reintroduce Free Play page offers tips. NBA star Trae Young’s #InHouseChallenge has upped the ante of what you can do while inside. Let kids play on their own terms, and they will.” Project Play creates a space where parents and coaches can learn how to help the kids with their sport during Covid. Also professional athletes are also helping by donations or giving motivation on social media by showing what they are doing in the pandemic. If you want to help then you can simply stay safe by wearing masks when you are not playing during practice or games, you can use your own equipment as much as possible, and stay home if you are not feeling well. Also you can go over to the CDC website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/youth-sports-faq.html#:~:text=Trainers%20and%20coaches%20should%20stay,risk%20for%20spreading%20COVID%2D19) and learn more about what you can do to keep yourself and others safe while playing the sports that you love. We will only be able to overcome these hard times by working together to be safe and to help each other so that sports do not have to close down.

One important thing to note, however, is that P.E. is one of those subjects that is only as enjoyable (or unenjoyable) as the environment makes it, rather than the actual curriculum. One of the main reasons for P.E.- directed hatred, as stated many times over in this article, is the bullying or ridicule of unathletic or overweight kids, or to paraphrase, athletic students abusing the power of their newfound social status. You can make P.E. a better place by including everyone in activities, no matter their athletic ability, by passing the ball to them in a team game, or providing positive encouragement when they fumble, which can be done with a simple “That’s okay, you’ll get it next time.” A good character is often valued more than a good ability. “You should have good sportsmanship to others, that would make a good picture of how people think of you- you’re nice, you think of others [more than you being good at sports],” says Masspalli. Friendship and kindness can often turn a hated subject to a one worth looking forward to.

In a place like America with about 880 thousand divorces each year, millions of kids have to go through the hardships of divorce within their families. Because of this, “Kids who doubt their ability to deal with the changes and those who see themselves as helpless victims are more likely to experience mental health problems.” (The Psychological Effects of Divorce on Children). Some things you can do to help a child cope with divorce are using consistent discipline, not putting the kid in the middle of parental relationships, peaceful co-parenting, teaching coping mechanisms, and empowering your child. Charities such as About - Kids in the Middle and Kids Need Both, are both great organizations that can help kids cope with divorce. Divorce is happening more frequently and is affecting children in many ways that can lead to increase in stress and depression. In order to stop this, we need to help children in as many ways as we can

Society has definitely surprised some, with the precautions they are taking against racism, but there are ways that anyone, whether discriminated against or not can help. Anyone could make an impact or change on our world by becoming involved in social action. To be an advocate, don’t underestimate the power you have to make a change and be clear on how you want to see that change being implemented. The first step to ending racism is to recognize its existence because people will always claim that they hate racism, but if they don’t know what it is, it will inevitably continue to thrive. Acknowledging that laws have an effect on racism, is simply not enough and needs to be overturned. As brought to attention by Human Rights Careers, they say “Getting rid of laws that negatively and disproportionately affect certain races is a vital part of ending systemic racism.” By doing this, everyone has an equal chance. The Human Rights Careers also suggests that “Many people believe that society can stop racism by teaching love and acceptance, but the reality is that even if everyone stopped being racist overnight, the system would still produce outcomes that disproportionately impact certain races.” To elaborate, racism can’t be ended in the blink of an eye, because that would mean everyone’s beliefs and values would have to be dominated. Systems were designed with a specific intent, even if they don’t explicitly mention a race so it would be way harder for certain groups to break out of poverty, get a better education, more job opportunities, and so on. In addition, it is very crucial to be an anti-racist, which means seeing the difference between certain acts and not pretending its not there. Anti-racists commit to ally ship and amplify the voices of those unheard. When someone is an ally they actively recognize and address concerns about racism. As more awareness is being brought towards racism, the best way to do that is to support through anti-racist organizations and peaceful protests. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) or Black Lives Matter (BLM) are some of the many examples of organizations to take action with. With more discriminatory acts being brought online, people have been able to learn and gain more perception towards it, though anyone should stay safe while being online. As powerfully stated by Nelson Mandela “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” To change the face of racism, the most important role is education, especially educating the youth. Even though everyone engages in society from a different perspective it’s important to stick to the facts and not our own biases. As difficult as it may be to just take action, anyone can make simple changes to our community that make more of a difference than one would think.

Parents getting a divorce is very common and many children struggle with trauma from it. The trauma may be from the toxic household or from the divorce. These things can scar children for life; however there are many different ways to help children. One example, DivorceCare for Kids, is a support group for children with divorced parents. This support group “is designed to help minimize the short- and long-term effects of divorce on your children’s schoolwork, emotional health and spiritual life.”(https://www.dc4k.org/) In a support group people feel left alone and can relate to others who are going through similar things. Support groups allow children to open up without feeling forced. Another example is therapy. A therapist is able to get people to open up at their own pace. It does the same thing as a support group but some people feel more comfortable talking to someone alone instead of a group. Specialized Therapy for Children and Families is “encouraging children and families to work together in finding their strengths to adjust to the difficulties they are facing.” (https://specializedtherapy.org/) Divorce is difficult for a family and changes may be hard to accept; however talking it out with each other and making plans on how to make it better for everyone can relieve the stress. There is also a charity, Kidsmatter, that is “dedicated to giving the children of divorced parents a voice in the family court system.” (https://kidsmatter.charity/#:~:text=Kids%20Matter%20is%20a%20nonprofit,through%20the%20family%20court%20system) This organization fights against family courts that provide unequal custody for parents who deserve it. This charity has also increased the chances of mentally and physically healthier children. There are many other different organizations to help children. Not all organizations are going to work out, so find one that seems like the best option for children.

What to do about the grading system of America is so widely debated amongst educators. Some say that the pressure to get good grades adds a lot of stress and anxiety onto students. Others say that students will work harder when they see a bad grade. But you can share your opinion on the grading system too. There are so many blog sites that teachers and students could use, such as Edublogs, WordPress.org, Medium, and more! Most of these blogging sites have a wide audience, and if you don’t like being very public, there are other things you can do, as a student or a teacher. Some of these things can be having a day to just catch up on work, giving out work that is more learning based, or even coming up with your own strategies. Our society is realizing the importance of assessing children but is wondering if changing our grading system is the best way to accomplish it.

Apps such as Instagram, an app popular with teenagers and young adults, is a simple way to spread awareness about Asian Hate, especially educating them about these hate crimes. Petitions also are beneficial in combating Asian Hate as they gather signatures and then are sent to the government. If witnessing a hate crime, reach out to a person of authority and report it. Even the littlest of things such as signing a petition, all play an important role in combating Asian Hate.

In the end, we all get affected by using social media. It affects mental health and relationships with family and friends. There are many ways to overcome an addiction to social media. Also, you can get back to socializing with people in person instead of on a screen. For example,“being more mindful of your social media use can have beneficial results on your mood and focus.” (https://www.helpguide.org/articles/mental-health/social-media-and-mental-health.htm). You can limit how much time you use social media. You can start to do calming exercises like yoga or swimming. Just by interacting with people in person can make you feel less stressed, depressed, and lonely. The biggest thing to do to help social media not affect your mental health and life is to just….. delete them! Social media is not something you need to have in order to survive. You can entertain yourself in other ways! Go outside, play some games, paint, talk with others, or get off social media! You can help others by giving them advice on how to improve your mental health and life. Talk to them and see how social media has changed them. Ask them how they feel and share how you improved social media addiction. Spend time with them and tell them how social media is not as important as enjoying life. Once they feel better about themselves, tell them to do the same with thief friends! This can help improve our usage of social media a lot and benefit our future selves.

While many believe that the gender crisis was resolved long ago, there have been events across the world that say otherwise, from males receiving preferential treatment in the workplace to occurrences of gender based violence. But how can these issues be resolved? For starters, there are multiple organizations around the world that one could donate to, the most commonly heard of being the Malala Fund. Shot at age 15, Yousafzai set up an organization to help females around the world have access to a safe, high quality, 12-year education (https://malala.org/about). “Through our Education Champion Network, we invest in local educators and advocates — the people who best understand girls in their communities — in regions where the most girls are missing out on secondary school,” Yousafzai and her father say (https://malala.org/about). UN Women is another foundation that supports women's rights by tackling the gender imbalance situation at different angles. They focus on women's leadership/political power, women's economic empowerment, and prevention of gender-based violence, among other sub-conflicts (What we do | UN Women). One of their services include “...training [women for] political candidates to help build their capacities, [as well as] voter and civic education and sensitization campaigns on gender equality,” (https://www.unwomen.org/en/what-we-do/leadership-and-political-participation). Peace Corps, a unique organization that focuses on rectifying problems of our generation, recruits volunteers to solve the gender crisis, from female employment opportunities to female economic participation (https://www.peacecorps.gov/about/). Womankind Worldwide is a global organization that improves the status of females and empowers them to achieve their dreams (https://www.womankind.org.uk/what-we-do/). To “[change] the lives of women and girls around the world,” Womankind Worldwide “...build[s] successful projects[,] amplify women’s voices[,] and share what’s working. [They] take collective action with women’s movements to advocate for changes to laws and policies across the world that ensure women’s rights.” But what can the common person do to stop the spread of gender inequality? A great way to help out is to speak up. Call out gender based violence or harassment, whether it be in your workplace or out on the street. Learn more about gender inequality and educate others on it to prevent it from occurring in the first place. And report occurrences of preferential treatment in the workplace and in schools. Is it time to end the unfair treatment non-males have been receiving for centuries?

In fact, there are an ever-increasing number of organizations that schools, teachers, students, and parents can get involved in to improve sports. For example, the organization Reimagining School Sports offers a myriad of innovations for each sector of schools. Reimagining School Sports “aims to make quality sport and physical activities accessible to all students…” (https://www.aspenprojectplay.org).

Although there are many effects from using social media, there are ways to help someone if you know that they have been negatively impacted by social media. For parents, if you think your child is being impacted negatively by social media, but you’re not sure, ask yourself, “Has your child’s mood fluctuated? Are they eating differently? Sleeping more or less than usual? Are they isolating in their room?” (https://www.chla.org/) All of these are signs that your child has been negatively impacted by social media. “The key, Voyer says, is checking in frequently and being attentive and aware of your kids’ media use '' (Sarah Voyer, LCSW, Lead Social Worker in the Division of Psychiatry) (https://www.chla.org/). Another way to help your child with negative impacts is to talk with them about their social media use. You can talk about what different types of social media platforms are, and how to use them effectively in the best way. Try to set time limits for your child in a “respectful” way. You should strive to appear more supportive, helpful, and understanding rather than appearing as unhelpful or anxious in a parental way. Teens, you can also help yourself if you know that you are being negatively impacted by social media. You can limit your own screen time by setting a timer so that you know when to turn off the screens, or just by practicing self control. You can also try to keep yourself busy by doing extracurricular activities, going out, etc. This way, you wouldn’t always have the urge to keep checking your phone for notifications. Additionally, you should try to use social media to connect with people who bring positivity, inspire you, share similar interests, etc. In the end, social media is not forever, and we should never let social media take control of us.

In society, social media has a big effect on some people. Some people can even develop social addictions. Nevertheless, there are ways to prevent this. A very straightforward way is to delete all forms of social media from your phone, although that can cause FOMO (fear of missing out) for many people. A slower, simpler way is you or a parent can put time restrictions on apps to stop yourself from constant use. Or, turn off your phone or notifications while you are working so you don't get distracted. A time-consuming way is to find other hobbies that are technology-free like going to the gym or getting into a sport. This will also improve your physical health (Social Media Addiction: What It Is and What to Do About It). Considering that social media can deeply affect a person's mental health you can take sessions with a therapist and if it has come to a very depressive stage call 800-273-8255, The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ ) There are also many organizations similar to the Reboot & Recover. They quote “We use a harm-reduction model approach. That said, we do believe that specific overuses of technology can definitely be harmful.” (Reboot & Recover ). There are more ways to prevent yourself from the overuse of social media but the main thing is to understand what good and bad effects can be caused by it.

Another way is by making sports cheap and affordable for every student interested in sports. People that aren’t very wealthy should be given the same chances as the wealthy. “Every child needs access to sport, either through schools or supplemental means,” Kevin Carroll, the acclaimed author of Rules of the Red Rubber Ball, What’s Your Red Rubber Ball?! Also, sports should be made co-curricular, not extra curricular so that it could help out more students. This means that they should be a part of the day, and they could be used as an elective instead of being an after school activity. This could let more students try out new sports that they could be interested in.

https://www.stack.com/a/what-kids-want-from-sports-and-how-were-failing-to-deliver-it/ Since the number of student athletes is at an all time low, schools are hosting multiple sport events to encourage students to make them more involved with their school spirit and raise their confidence levels. These include sports games and pep rallies. This can allow more students to participate and enjoy sports. Based on all these reasons, even though there are some negatives about school sports, they should be allowed in schools, and everyone should be able to participate in them.

In conclusion, Vaping is an issue which is on the rise. More and more people are starting to do it everyday, and more people are getting addicted to it. There are quite a lot of ways to overcome such an addiction, though. One thing you could do would be to go to a rehabilitative facility. Just talking to a professional or another addicted person can help you learn more about it and feel like you’re not alone. Another thing you can do is do calming activities such as Yoga, and meditation. This can help calm your body and mind, and help you fight addiction! Just believing in yourself could also play a huge role in overcoming an addiction! If you didn’t believe in yourself, you would never be able to fight against it.

There are many ways of stopping homework from causing stress. The most helpful way is to take breaks. You can do whatever you want during the breaks but try doing some things more than others. And make sure not to take breaks that are too long so you can assure yourself to get your work done and won’t waste time. Some good ways of taking breaks are by doing some physical activity, playing some game, or any other thing that relaxes you. Also try making a work schedule so you don’t stress yourself out too much.

One of the reasons students become disengaged with homework is because they find it to be pointless. Providing students with an emotional or personal connection to homework can boost engagement. For example, teachers can ask students to pick which question they want to do (odds or evens), pick from many different prompts or have the option to work by themselves or as a group. You could also incorporate art. Most students enjoy engaging in creative thinking. Help make homework more fun and relaxing by adding art-focused assignments to the mix. One idea is to give students options to draw, write a song, or play an instrument in response to a certain book. Some students may be able to complete all of their homework in one sitting. For those students who can’t sit still, consider incorporating breaks into the homework process. Teachers become accustomed to assigning a certain amount of homework each day, week and month. In turn, students get used to this cadence and sometimes focus too much on getting things done in a sloppy manner. Instead of encouraging a quantity over quality approach, focusing on longer, higher quality assignments can boost engagement.
