I have gained so much from reading other peoples blogs, whether it's my professional learning or just an appreciation of thoughts and ideas of others. That's been such a great enabler, especially when I was living overseas. So I feel I'm giving back.

It seems like I go flat out with little pause to evaluate what I'm doing, why I am doing it ... and sometimes, in the deep dark depths of the school term, I am not even sure I know how I am doing it. A blog is a chance to stop and think, and go, yip, I've got this.

To catch and process a whole lot of thoughts that are going round in my mind. To also have something to go back and revisit to see progression of thinking. I think its important to know where you have come from, where you are now and where you are going... that is theory as story. (Leanne)

I blog to reflect on my practice and to get my thoughts and ideas down (sometimes... when I remember).

it helps me to remember the good stuff I do as that tends to get lost in my head a lot of the time. The stresses of NCEA and credit chasing can push out the good stuff and I blog to force myself to think about it.

Lately I have been blogging to craft my writing so that I can teach writing, I blog to set an example for others so that they can see I practice what I preach, I blog for myself to unravel my mind of ideas that sometimes are going so fast I cannot seem to slow them down, I read blogs to craft my knowledge and to identify what is happening in teaching and learning and I blog because I just love writing. to help me organise my thoughts

to reflect on what I learn and experience

when I feel inspired by something or someone

because I find writing cathartic, it clears my head.

Sometimes I write a post and then delete it because it seems too chaotic but then it goes into my private, diary blog not my public one! Later a synthesised version emerges!

To reflect and think about where I am going next.

I look for research and links that relate to my pedagogy and practice and then comment on them. I put things up that I had tried in class that have gone well and I would like to use more.

I comment about where I want to go in the future and what sort of person I want to be as a leader.

I blog for people to comment and give me ideas too!

I like to look back on what I have written and think about how things have changed for me and whether I agree or disagree.

I blog to about new initiatives, reflect on my practice, share my professional and sometimes personal journey, experiences. However, more recently I am starting to use it as a means of creating some resources, sharing perspectives and Pedagogy to enhance student engagement. Linking my blogs to the Technology Matrix and NZC and sharing my take on what the technological strands & standards must look like in food technology.

I blog to get my thoughts down, to give me something to go back to so I can see where I have been. It's early days for me blogging but I can see how useful it could be for my students so if i'm doing it i'm able to model that to them. Writing my own blog has meant i've engaged with many other blogs more often which i'm finding very useful!

I've just started this week. So I am rather new. I never liked doing journal entries at school so blogging hadn't featured on my to do list until recently...

I'm taking on the University of Auckland's 23 Teaching Things. The first part involves setting up a blog.

I blog for myself :) To get my thoughts in order, remind myself I am learning too and what changes I am trying to make and where I want to be going. It helps to know that sometimes what I am doing can also help others, even if it just helps them not make mistakes I make :). I read other blogs to be inspired, get ideas and remember we are all in education to help our young people and doing an awesome job

I blog to reflect. I blog to reinforce learning. I blog to share learning. Blogging consolidates my ideas. It makes me check my understandings. It's also fun to connect. I had a thought. Some experts are saying that computer writing does not allow deeper thinking when compared to handwriting. I never was able to organise my thoughts using handwriting. I can when I blog.

I blog to reflect on what I have done in my classroom - it allows me to share what was successful and what were the pitfalls. I blog to share how I do things because they may work for other people too. I blog to show off the fabulous work my students have done because they have worked so hard! I blog on another blog to get out opinions and thoughts that weigh on me about issues in education and society. And I have a third blog to talk books, because I love to read!! I blog because I need to write for my satisfaction.
