It is an annual species or, in other words, in the course of a year this plant germinates, blooms and dies. The poppy is covered by a thin layer of fluff. The leaves of the poppy are very uneven. You can find them narrow, long, short, etc. One feature they always have is that they have jagged edges. In addition, they develop alternately along the stem and have a single central rib. But what stands out the most about the poppy are its flowers. These are solitary with petals wrinkled in flower buds that when they open show a beautiful intense color that can vary from the classic scarlet to orange or white, they measure around 5 or 6 cm in diameter.

Generally, the flowers have dark spots in the basal portion.

Annual wild plant with straight and hairy stem, which usually does not exceed half a meter in height. It lives in meadows, ditches, uncultivated fields and rubble heaps all over Spain. It doesn't resist warm climates or humidity. Its split and hairy leaves are deeply serrated and end in tip. The poppy blooms in spring. It has an ephemeral flower, composed of the outer calyx that falls when unfolding its four large, crossed red petals. Their stamens are very numerous, thin and dark. In the center of the flower is the fruit, which is a unilocular capsule with false partitions, dark green and shaped like an urn. The main virtues of poppy are sedative, antispasmodic, narcotic and emollient. Both the petals and their central capsules are used to combat cough attacks and asthma and to facilitate insomniac sleep. The petals can be prepared as tisana or syrup and, in some regions of Spain, are served in salad. With their seeds, rich in oil, are prepared edible cakes typical of some countries of the East, place of origin of the poppy.
Ariadna G. 3ºB

The lemon tree is a citrus and perennial tree with a rounded, extended and open crown that, in its natural state, reaches heights of up to 6 m in height. The trunk is thin in youth and then becomes rounded and light brown. It is highly branched, not very thick and has a yellow hue. It can live up to 70 years. Its branches have thick and hard thorns that serve as a defense system.
The leaves are very aromatic, simple, with a serrated edge and a rounded tip.
The flowers are from 3 to 5 cm in diameter and their petals are white and purple, with numerous stamens. The fruit (lemon) has inside formations called segments that store a juice with an acid flavor. The rind of the fruit is thin, strong and resistant, with an intense yellow color at full maturity, which gives off a unique perfume when we cut it.

Victoria P. 3ºB
