Mack Collier describes the importance of researching various aspects of blog analytics if you desire to write a successful blog.  Collier breaks down blog success into 3 categories: traffic, search traffic, and referral traffic.

Fortunately, Collier's insights and focus on blog traffic helps the reader understand how the timing of posts makes a difference. He reiterates this idea by showing a graph of the low and high points for blog traffic. This graph helps the reader to see that certain days draw more traffic. Collier even expounds on this idea that even posting at the right time of day (he suggests 8:00 am on Mondays) can have more impact.

He reiterates the idea, however, that the most important aspect is understanding how to use keywords, "because it not only gives you better insight into what posts are most popular, but also the search keywords are more about what topics people are interested in" (Collier). Unfortunately, he doesn't give any direction on how to understand key words--merely that it is important, which is a bit irritating. Obviously word choice is important. I wonder if I did a little of my own "market research" and asked people to search on a topic and just record their first search.
