Generally, like most other users, when I download a new social media platform I rarely look over the policies and terms and conditions as they are often many pages long and use difficult to understand language. Most privacy policies for online platforms mainly include what personal information you collect from your users, how you collect the information, how you use it, and whether you share it with any third parties. The social media platform 

I will be addressing is Instagram. The instagram privacy policy was recently updated 3 months ago and is just under 5,000 words long. 

I agree with majority of Instagram’s user privacy policies. I have rewrote the below regulations with relation to what I personally deem the most important in terms of user privacy. I included the fifth policy as Instagram did not have this in their clauses and I view it as being an important one as many online users don’t check the policy on a regular basis as when it is changed. 

1.Each user has the right to be notified of who and what companies have access to your personal data you provide on the platform. They should also be notified when the data is being extracted from your profile. 

2. Each user should be protected by the social media application from harmful content and detect and prevent spam and other bad experiences for every user. 

3. Every user should have the right to ownership to all content they post and have the right to delete or archive anything the user has put up in the past.

4. Under the GDPR regulation, the user has the right access, rectify, port and erase your data at any given moment and the platform must uphold these rights. 

5. The user has the right to be notified if any regulations or policies have been changed.
