This shows in Mrs. Mallard's initial reaction to her husband's death. Even when she begins to realize the freedom this would bring she stills knows she will be sad when she sees her passed husband. The goodness of their marriage shows that Mrs, Mallard's joy at her new freedom isn't a critique of their marriage but a critique of the entire idea of marriage.
