It ain’t right for this place to suck the strength of their youth, then cast them off like dry husks to the wind.” (113) ksims9 https://padlet.com/ksims9/uhcqhtyzi30x/wish/214034086 My Analysis: The above quote shows Lyddie's willingness to sign the petition that would hopefully lead to an improvement in the working conditions at the mill factory. When she stated that "it ain't right for this place to suck the strength of their youth," she is suggesting that the Mill is depleting women's energy. That is a caused by the unsafe working conditions due to the polluted air. Also, Lyddie continues to state that the mill "cast them off like dry husks to the wind," and she is referring to the fact that women are preceived as replaceable at the mill. This shows that women's job at the factory is not secured and that can they be released or fired at anytime.
