WHY IS SUSTAINABLE SEAS IMPORTANT IN NEW ZEALAND?

Sustainable seas are condition for New Zealand's health and wealth. The sea is also important a part of New Zealand's behavior and culture for food, amusement and spiritual well-being. And also Maori's connection with the sea is particularly strong. In Maori culture the sea is often considered to be the source and foundation of all life. Islands are fish drawn up from the water, and people evolved from amphibious beginnings. Which is why Maori's have strong connections with the sea and why they protect it.

Why it is it important to save the sea?

The air we breathe, the ocean produces over half of the world's oxygen and absorbs 50 times more carbon dioxide than our atmosphere. Which would make us breathe easier and faster, so our hearts can pump faster producing more blood for the body which helps your trachea or bronchi which are part of your airway system. Climate regulation: Covering 70 percent of the Earth's surface, the ocean transports heat from the equator to the poles, regulating our climate and weather patterns. The temperature will be hotter which means it'll be harder to breathe, animals will have to move habitats and it will cause lots of deaths, animals or humans.

We are going to save the sea by using fewer plastic products that we use daily and making sure we don't leave the plastics rubbishes anywhere in the places we are at for example the beach and more. We need to recycle plastic, soda/alcohol cans because if plastic goes in the sea fishes will eat it and die which lowers the fish population which makes food source lower.

We are trying to show New Zealand and maybe the world that Sustainable seas is very important in this world we live in. Having good seas, is a good advantage for us by giving us the food we need daily this is important because with the sea here with us can help with many different things in life. The sea is the source of us getting food, water, salt and etc. If we have good seas then more sustain and excellent environment we have... Our group is focusing on how we are going to help the sea by telling or sharing it's importance to people around the globe we can do this by handing out flyers and even putting this information on radio or television and helping those who are sustaining the seas by spreading the word about the importance of the seas and marines...
