(B5: Room 8)Thesis: Regulations centered around western territories somewhat upset the colonists and strained the relationship between the colonies and Parliament during the period of 1763 to 1775. However, the major issues of taxations without representation and the restrictions on trade and colonial businesses significantly outraged the colonists more and further strained the relationship between the colonies and Parliament. by Jason Tuason

"No taxation without representation" became the rallying cry from colonists who were fed up. This galvanized anti-Britishness in the colonies, and Boston was seen as the start of revolution activity long before the next shots were fired. The British closed the port of Boston to all shipping which created a financial crisis which created more anger and resentment.

The Sons of Liberty, was created in response to the Stamp Act of 1765. This sent delegates to all the colonies to create an underground resistance to the tax, which they saw as a sign of British tyranny. 9 colonies sent delegates to a gathering called the Stamp Act Congress in New York City in 1765. They issued a declaration of rights and grievances which said that parliament had no right to tax the colonies and they petitioned for repeal of these acts. This created a growing sense of unity among the resistance movement.
