"The urge to be part of a group, no matter a criminal gang or a cell-block group of prisoners, defined Royce" (6).
Master Thieves by Stephen Kurkjian is very interesting to read especially after reading The Autobiography of Jack The Ripper, another crime book. This book is written by an outside source whereas the other book was written by the criminal himself. I chose this book for the same reason I chose to read about Jack the Ripper. I'm fascinated in these true crime stories. One day I want to be a forensic scientist and be able to help solve these types of crime. So far I'm not as interested in this book as I was in the last one. In Jack the Ripper you got to hear more of what Jack was thinking and therefore was able to get in his head and get to know him. Here, Royce is hard to get to know because all the audience hears is secondary information abut him, not his thoughts during all his heists. This book is also easier to read. This deals with art theft and petty crime, whereas Jack The Ripper dealt with murder which is obviously a lot harder to read about. The language is also a lot less challenging to read. In Jack the ripper most of the language was mature. In master thieves it was hard to find a vocab word that I didn't already know. So far the book isn't what I expected but, I'm excited to see what happens in the future.
