1. The city-state was the main form of government, each was ruled by a king. Rulers were generally men but if no male heir was present or no man was old enough to govern some were able to be the rulers.
2. The Mayans used Cocoa as their currency. There was a trade system between the highlands and lowlands.
3. The social structure went priests, wealthy nobles, commoners and low level government officials and last were slaves and servants.
4. The mayans worshipped many deities the most important being those of the sun, rain, and corn. Priests conducted ceremonies honoring the deities, there were also human or animal blood sacrifices as a source of nourishment for the deities. Human sacrifices were often high status prisoners of war. For architecture they had many pyramids with steps on the sides.
5. The environment around the mayans had some negative aspect such as soil exhaustion, water loss, and erosion.
6. Lishan Bartlett-Will

1. There were village chiefs who would rule the people under the sun god(with a few women chiefs).
2. Their economy was mainly based on agriculture (corn and squash), and it supported the works of the temple mounds. Through trade between other American Indian groups, the practice and idea of mound-building was spread.
3. Their social system consisted of four classes which were the Suns, Nobles, Honored Men, and Honored Women (each chief village, the highest class, were considered the Suns who ruled the people).
4. They believed in a monotheistic religion in which a sun god was who they worshipped. Ritual suicide and human sacrifice were a part of the religion they followed. Following the death of a chief, their people must perform ritual suicide in order to follow them to the afterlife. The larger mounds acted as a Sun Temple (dedicated to their deity) while the smaller mounds were for the chiefs' residences, and the villagers' residences were similar to mounds, but not exactly the same structure.
5. Because of the peoples' practice of building mounds throughout their territory, the entirety of the area eventually had a lack of resources used to build the bounds leading to the people abandoning the area.
6.
