represent? Who is the “you” that the speaker is addressing? answer: “War drums” can refer to the US government because they control the army and the army’s rhythm. “You” could be referring to the US government because the military belongs to the US government.
2. Vocabulary in Context. The word “drummed” in line 15 is used in a way that is related to, but different from, the
“drum” that is referred to in the rest of the poem. What does " drummed " mean here, and how does it relate to
the poem’s central message? answer: “Drummed” is used as a verb or an action and it relates to the rhythm the author was talking about in the beginning. 
3. Argument: i agree with the speakers position towards war because war is not good and it shouldn’t be based on unfair judgement of others. We should work together and be friends instead to make peace.
4. Analysis: this poem is optimistic and also pessimistic because she is addressing the wrongdoings of the US government but she is being defensive about it and is showing her positive reaction about sticking to her beliefs and not following along with the US government.
