He has made multiple bunkers for him and his family to hide in. He's also arranged plans for his family to get out of Poland. Vladek's story begins in Poland. He visits Czechoslovakia to take Anja to the mental institute. "Right away we went. The sanitarium was inside Czechoslovakia" (32). Afterwards he is back in Poland and eventually goes to Germany. At the end of the book, in 1944, Vladek is back in Poland being taken to the Auschwitz death camp. "This was 1944... we knew everything. They will not be with us forever so don't take them for granted and we have to make the most of what time we do have with them.
Another lesson we have learned is that real wealth does not have to be monetary. Wealth can be your happiness and the love you have from your family and friends.
One last lesson that we can takeaway from Vladek is you should always try and be ready for anything. What happened during the holocaust was unimaginable but now that it happened we can be prepared to stop something like it in the future. Quoting boy-scouts: "Always be prepared".
