I wouldn't say that it has changed drastically. I do think that in the beginning he was less friendly. But after he talked to Clarisse he seems to rethink his way of life and open up a bit more. After seeing how his wife acts, it makes more sense why he is the way he is. Their home life will reflect on them as a person. Clarisse has a very bright and uplifting home while Guy has a dark and depressing one. Overall, my opinion hasn't changed much I think I just understand him more after seeing what his home life is like.
-Reagan Oates

The adjective I believe best describes Mildred is devoid. I believe devoid describes her best because Mildred is devoid of the memories from the night before. Also, later in the section she was talking to Guy about adding a fourth wall and how it was only $2,000. I think Mildred doesn't really know the value of money and I think some of her memories aren't all there. This is why I think the adjective devoid describes Mildred best.

An adjective that I would use to describe Mildred would be shallow. In the second section we read, she will not accept that she emptyed the bottle of pills and refuses to listen to Guy. It is also said that she is reading a script for a "wall-to-wall circuit" paly. She states that she wants the fourth wall and doesn't seem to care that it would cost a third of Guy's yearly revenue. I think that she also might be misunderstood as we are still in the beginning of the story but as of right now, she doesn't seem to care much about Guy or his wants/feelings.
-Reagan Oates

Yes, at the beginning I felt that Montag wouldn't have a kind or nice part to him, but as the story progresses, you sort of see that Montag is just another lost person trying to find the missing part to be truly happy ("I don't know anything anymore." Pg-15). Clarisse also sees that Montag isn't like the other firemen, and I agree with her ("You're not like the others. I've seen a few; I know." Pg-21). I feel like Montag is a nice person inside, and this thought was triggered by him caring about the health of Mildred. He made sure that she was fine and healthy, and he also showed worry when he noticed that there was something wrong with Mildred ("...why don't you tell me if she'll be alright?" Pg-13). My prediction is that Montag is going to grow to be a better person throughout the story.

I think that Clarisse is going to make Guy rethink how he lives, and give him a new outlook on life. After both of their interactions, once Clarisse has left, Guy always ponders what she had previously said. At the end of their second conversation, the text reads, "...she ran off...he tilted his head back in the rain...and opened his mouth" (Bradbury 24). When he first sees her "drinking" the rain he sees it as peculiar, but after talking he wants to try it himself. "He stood outside the talking house in the shadows" (Bradbury 17). A few hours after his wife is healed, he ends up outside of the McClellan's home, and he seems to want to be apart of the happy environment. Overall, I think that Clarisse will make Guy realize that his way of living is not ideal and will make him think about a lot of things.
-Reagan Oates

When they first met Clarisse asked, "'Are you happy? (Bradbury 7)'", The second time they met she said, "'You're not in love with anyone (Bradbury 19)'". This is why I would describe their relationship as friends because of what Clarisse is saying to Guy.

I definitely need to read more about her to understand her actions and opinions. When she tried to commit suicide by eating the sleeping pills, I saw her as depressed and done with life. Then, the following day, she acted as if nothing happened and even claimed she didn't remember her actions from the night before ("I didn't do that," she said. "Never in a billion years." Pg-17). I don't know if to think that she is lying, or truly lost memory. There just seems to be something off about her, I cant really figure out what it is, but she gives me a weird feeling.

The others would never do that (Bradbury 21)'". I feel this excerpt reveals that Guy is a kind person and compared to the other firemen, according to Clarisse, aren't kind. I feel the other firemen aren't that nice to people and they don't give them time to talk to them, but Guy is different. He gives Clarisse time and listens to her. So, I think this excerpt reveals that, instead of Guy being a hateful person as we assumed in the first few pages of the book, he is a kind person.

From what I have read, Mildred doesn't seem to care for him much and their house is always dark. When Guy is ouside of the McClellan's home, he wishes to be apart of the uplifting space. I think that Guy is starting to see what life could be like for him and realizing how lonely and/or depressing his life truely is.

The relationship between Guy and Clarisse is still new. I need to read more of the story to see how this new relationship develops. This is sort of an odd relationship in my opinion since Montag is an older guy, while Clarisse is only 17. Firemen wouldn't usually talk to Clarisse, but Montag does talk to her despite being a Fireman, and I think this means that Montag is intrigued by Clarisse, as well as Clarisse to Montag ("She smiled when she saw Montag" Pg-19). In general, I think Clarisse is just a girl who is kind to everyone, and Montag is a restricted man who hasn't seen anyone like Clarisse ("What do you do, go around trying everything at once?" Pg-19) and therefore is interested in what she has to say.

"I don't know anything anymore", Page-15.
At this point of the story, you realize that Montag feels lost and unfulfilled. You can see the sadness slowly creep into Montag, and the effects it has on him. This was a hidden character trait that he has been trying to avoid, but has now appeared. This part of the story tells us that Montag has now realized that his life isn't picture-perfect and there are some imperfections to him. My inference is that this is a message in the story that tells the readers that you cant have a perfect life, and you can't hide your true emotions forever.

But I think that Clarisse is going to open up Montag and change his way of thinking about life. I think Montag looks up to Clarisse and wants to live like Clarisse but doesn't know how. But I can't blame Montag on how he acts because his wife doesn't even acknowledge him. And the way you act reflects your home life so I think that Montag doesn't feel noticed so that's why he keeps to himself and doesn't talk to anyone.

The adjective I believe best describes Mildred is unwanted. I believe unwanted describes her best because why would she take so many sleeping pills if she felt wanted. Maybe she doesn't feel welcomed or needed in this world so she thinks the best way to get rid of her pain is killing herself.

"He wanted above all, like the old joke, to shove a marshmallow on a stick in the furnace, while the flapping pigeon-winged books died on the porch and lawn of the house. While the books went up in sparkling whirls and blew away on a wind turned dark with burning. Montag grinned the fierce grin of all men singed and driven back by flame" (Bradbury, 1 and 2). This describes Montag because he loves his job and he likes seeing the burning of books. And he likes smelling like kerosene. And this shows that he is satisfied with his job and what he does for a living.

I think Clarisse is going to change how Guy thinks and looks at the world. When Clarisse asked Guy if he was happy Guy thought about it all night and was making sure that he was happy even though he is not but he doesn't know what to do to make him happy and I think that is what Clarisse is going to do she will help Guy to look at his world differently. ""Are you happy?" (Bradbury, 7) said Clarisse to guy. And when guy went inside of his house he said "Of course I'm happy. What does she think? I'm not? he asked the quiet rooms. (Bradbury,8).
