At college, I am currently studying sports and exercise science and have learnt about psychology, anatomy, coaching, research methods, biomechanics, and physical activity. By the time I have finished college I will have learnt about sports massage, physiology, nutrition, and other subjects which will mean I will already have some knowledge when going into university to study physiotherapy. At college, I did course work, written exams, practical exams, and presentations. This helped me develop my time management skills when I had to hand in assignments completed and on time and helped me become more confident when speaking in presentations and work well with the people in my group. Working in a group also means that I have improved on listening skills as different people have different answers to contribute towards the work. Also, I have learnt how to research products and reference websites and books in my assignments to show where the information had come from.

I have done work placement at a football team helping to coach a new team who have never played before. I helped to do drills with the team to develop their skills in all areas as they are new to the sport. I also sometimes worked one on one with some of the players as some might need more help than others. I have learnt skills such as confidence, leadership, and organisation whilst doing my work placement. I am also planning to do physiotherapy work experience. This will help me develop skills and have a better understanding at what physiotherapy is about in a work environment. It will also give me experience with working with others and helping clients.

I also have a part time job working in a bar. In this job, I have developed my skills in customer service, learning how to communicate with people and learning how to work well under pressure. Working at my job has taught me to be more organised and balance my college work and my job and prioritise my assignments and work before going to my job. I also play for a football team which means I have improved on my team work skills as we have to work together and communicate as a team to win the game. I also have a respect for my coaches and teammates which I feel is important as it helps you to build trust in the team.

By studying this degree in university , it will help me to achieve a career in physiotherapy in the future. I am a friendly and caring individual who has a passion for physiotherapy and I feel like I have demonstrated important skills that would be crucial for this degree. I also look forward to having a detailed understanding of physiotherapy and looking further into specific topics such as mental health and the anatomy of the body.
