The bronze crested helmet was an Etruscan military item that rich warriors wore on their heads to help defect blows. This material relates to Livy's passage because Livy says that the Etruscans ran from the Romans , but with these strong helmets protecting them. I don't think the Etruscan would run away

Etruscan Buccheros

This Etruscan Bucchero is an item used to carry water. On the outside it says something written in Etruscan like ex. "My owner is Sagar." This connects to the Livy passage because Livy mentions that Marcus was taught Etruscan language and literature and every Roman boy learned Etruscan language. Livy also says that it was a rule which makes it seem as if Etruscan language was easy to learn, but the Buccheros have very few words. So the Etruscan language probably took long to write. In conclusion, it is not as easy as Livy suggests it is.

In the tomb of the monkey I noticed that there was a fight scene in the tomb. The Etruscans would not draw a fight scene if the military wasn't an important part of their culture. Livy's stories are about the Etruscans losing wars against the Romans, but look at this fight scene.

Bronze Helmet with an inscription of Hieron

This helmet was used in the Battle of Cumae in 474 BC. It was dedicated to one of the Greek's gods Zeus. It has an inscription that translates "Hieron, son of Deinomenes, and the Syracusans." The Etruscans lost their battle to the Greeks, but it must have been an accomplishment because it was blessed by the Greek god Zeus. So if it was an accomplishment to beat the Etruscans than they might have been a strong army

The bronze shield was an item used in the military of the Etruscans. It is divide into 8 triangular sections in the middle. Also, almost all the weapons are made of bronze. So the Etruscans may have used a lot of bronze. In Livy's passage the Romans were throwing stones at the Etruscans an killing them, but these shields are stronger than stone.

The Porta all' Arco, Volterra, Tuscany is one of the town's gateways. It was decorated with 3 heads on the outside. They most likely represent the triad of god guardians of Volterra, Jove, Juno, and Minerva. An urn in a museum( Guarnacci Museum) has a siege taking place around 3 heads by a gateway. If the Etruscans could build gateways like this with such strong walls. Invaders would stand no chance.

The Pyrgi Tablets were a bilingual text written in Phoenician and Etruscan language. This means that the Phoenicians and Etruscans
were allies and the Phoenicians may be less bias than Livy because they were allies in battle, and they knew the Etruscan language.
Also, Livy the Roman historian makes the language sound easy, but it is translated so hard that it is one of the only tools Historians and Archaeologists can use to translate in Etruscan language.
