Altruistic behavior means that you are selfless, loving, devoted, and helpful. The word selfless is needed because you have to put others before yourself. The word loving applies to the character traits of someone with an altruistic behavior because they must care and tend for the animals around them. If they didn't love them, they would be selfish towards them. You must also be devoted to the people you are trying to help. Without devotion, there is a greater chance of you not succeeding. Finally, the word helpful applies because they must be stable themselves, in order to help others, or else they might end up hurting the colony.

Altruistic behavior contains many benefits. To begin, if you have an altruistic behavior it shows that you care enough about the people around you to risk your life for them. It also demonstrates that you are willing to improve the condition for the people around you. If no one demonstrated this behavior, there would be a lack of love throughout the environment.

An altruistic behavior can be adapted because when an animal becomes a parent they develop the characteristics of one. Most parents will do anything for their children, and even risk their life in order for their kids to survive. They will decrease their fitness in order to protect their child's.

The worker and drone bees demonstrate character traits of someone with an altruistic behavior. They each decrease their fitness in order for the queen bee to survive long enough. They due this by working hard to fight against predators, in order for the queen be to survive longer.
