Contrary to what is commonly thought, Frankenstein is not the name of the famous monster we all know. Victor Frankenstein is the name of the man who gave life to the monster and it's precisely that the main aspect we can relate to life from the epoque. This is because Frankenstein was able to create the monster thanks to all the scientific advances that were made during the industrial revolution.
On the other hand, the beginning of the story unfolds in Switzerland, which is the place where the monster was created. However, the story has different settings around the world that can be taken as allegories to the expansion of European power around the world. Also, tourism grew by the time since it was more simple to travel due to the creation of various inventions that made transportation easier.

Romanticism appeals to individualism, rather than conventional norms or collectivism. For example, in "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley, the monster is a Romantic hero because he symbolizes individuality and nonconformity. In addition, this book is full of emotion, and as we know this is one of the main characteristics that Romanticism had.
