Activities Observed

• Youth were in their 3^rd week of programming working on final group edits on a coding project

• Feedback session with the team leader

• Group collaboration on final presentation for the culminating event

Key Observations

1. A group of 5 participants were working on a coding task 2 showed strong engagement, the rest stood back and talked about what they were going to do this upcoming weekend

2. During the feedback session, the team leader told youth that they have to “do better” then ended the feedback session early and continued their work on the computer.

3. Older youth in the program seemed frustrated with youth who were participating in the program for the first time this year

• Youth were sharing their findings from their environmental impact report during the second workshop

• Environmental Scientist lead a short seminar focused on new industry insights on reporting findings

Key Observations

1. Youth shared their concerns around completing their tasks and analyzing their results all in the same day. They shared that they felt rushed and felt they had to choose between completing their work or listen to the seminar.

2. Program director shared concerns with having just one industry professional serving as a guest speaker for the program’s seminars

3. Some youth said they did not feel prepared in the workshop to share their findings with the community
