I am a junior at Greenville Technical Charter High school. There I am apart of the dual enrollment program with GTC. In this program I can take college classes, boost my GPA, and graduate with an Associate's in Science and Arts. The career path I plan to take is a STEM one, more specifically an engineering one. I've been involved with engineering programs for high school students, like the NEXT Engineers. I plan on going to Clemson to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. I'm also very involved in my community at school, as an officer of my student government I help plan many of the events at our school. I'm also a Co-President of my school's Atlas Club, where we organize a culture week, which I'm very proud of. Being part of these clubs have helped me develop skills such as time management, problem solving, and how to lead people.

Micheal Jackson was and still is a very prominent figure in pop culture, especially at the time this commercial aired. Him sponsoring Pepsi and singing a parody for Pepsi of one of his most popular songs could make a lot of people want to buy it. Yes I believe it is intentional because Pepsi probably paid a lot of money to have him sponsor their drink.

The main rhetorical appeal used in this is Ethos because they're using Michal Jackson's approval as something that should convince you to buy this. I would then say Pathos could be one that's being used, because everyone in the commercial is dancing and being happy which appeal to emotion. I think they are effective because it made me want to buy a Pepsi while watching it.

They are located in Spartanburg, South Carolina .The requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering or in a related field, knowledge on how to use CAD efficiently, be famillar with programming and automation systems, and overall have an analytical mind to problem solve. The tasks the worker would be responsible for would be to solve technical problems, work on assignments and engineering task, provide detailed execution of projects and more. The channel used to find this job was Indeed, a popular website used to look for job opportunities.

When I apply for this job in this rhetorical situation, I believe the best rhetorical appeal would be ethos. In all jobs like this, certification and creditability is crucial to being hired. I would send in my Bachelor's degree to satisfy this appeal. I would also send any other past jobs I've worked which would fill in for the logos appeal. I would then use pathos during any interview part of the process. Ethos is emotionally appealing to the interviewer. I would use any life experiences to have them be more inclined to hire me.

I believe that Theodore Roethke’s poem, “My Papa’s Waltz”, has a much darker meaning than what the title entails. The choice of words and imagery suggests that these interactions between father and son are more sinister than what one can see at first glance. Immediately the poem starts off with the mention of whiskey, “The whiskey on your breath / Could make a small boy dizzy;”(Roethke 1-2). Alcohol has many negative connotations, often associated with being out of control. The audience now knows that the father has been drinking. The response of the son is in the second half, “But I hung on like death / Such waltzing was not easy”(Roethke 1-2). Using the word death as a way to say holding on eagerly is certainly dark, there’s many ways to hold on to something strongly. Also, this action is described as not easy insinuating that this is negative. This word choice shows us that this is not a friendly relationship. The way a lot of the physical parts of the poem are described suggests that the son is being handled violently and roughly by the father, “My right ear scraped a buckle”(Roethke 12) and “You beat time on my head”(Roethke 13). Being hurt by a belt is usually a harsh punishment and in works of fiction, it's used by abusive parents. The use of beat in the 13th line is disturbing. When skimming this part it seems like the father is just hitting his head, I believe this is to tell the reader that this is not a healthy relationship.

Roethke, Theodore. “My Papa’s Waltz.” Collected Poems of Theodore Roethke, Penguin Random House LLC, 1961.
