My original project was a flyer on Microsoft Word, but I changed it to enhance communication and collaboration. Microsoft Sway promotes communication and collaboration by offering interactive presentations. They allow viewers to swipe through slides and offer the ability to add multimedia content directly into the presentation. Sway also offers the ability to integrate with Microsoft 365, this can give access to other people who you may wish to work on presenting with. This promotes collaboration unlike other presentation tools by allowing students to work together and communicate their ideas.

For my artifact I decided to use an application called Snappa to recreate some marketing material for company that i am an ambassador for. My original was done through Canva, but I have been looking for alternatives due to the cost of using canva, and in my search I came across Snappa. It is a free to use platform, but provides great templates and usability tools to create anything you need. Snappa promotes communiciation and collaboration by offering share and edit access for projects to people other than yourself. It may not be directly correlated with 365 suite, but for my case that doesnt matter too much. I personally chose to look for an application for creative design because that is something I am focusing heavily on right now. I originally built my first Canva slide for a business development class that I'm in and have really enjoyed creating my own material for the company and overall ambassador program!

For my artifact, I created a graphic with Infogram. This semester in my Reporting III class we had to find data to use in our multiplatform story. I used canva and datawrapper to showcase the data, but I wanted to try out a new artifact to see how it differed. This data shows the percentage of the UGA Sports Media Institute that are male and those that are female. Women in sports media have increased and that stems from opportunities they recieve in college and post-grad. Infogram had a variety of templates to choose from, but you can also create from scratch to test out all the tools it includes. I explored all of the free features, but there is a premium feature that includes more. One of the biggest flaws of Infogram is that you can not download your final copy without purchasing a subscription. I really liked the simplicity of the graphic that I created. It allows for the information to be communicated clearly. When information is communicated well it allows others to interpret the data. This fuels collaboration.

For my artifact, I used Basecamp. Unfortunately, Basecamp requires a subscription, but I was able to use it on a 30 day trial. This tool is used to help groups collaborate online by posting various documents, keep a schedule, have a to-do list, message group members with various docs, and has a simple chat board. All of these sections are used to help keep groups organized and working together by effectively being able to collaborate. I recreated this information from one of my previous projects where my partner and I were unable to meet in person. It was hard because we were constantly just having to text back and forth. We ended up simply dividing up the project and working alone on it. It did not feel like a group project and we certainly didn't collaborate at all. If I had known about this tool sooner, I am sure that we could have worked together far more effectively.

For my tool, I chose to explore the capabilities of AnswerGarden. A few years ago, I conducted research on how listening to music affects the moods and emotions of adolescents. Originally, to encourage collaboration and see what people had to say in terms of what they experience when listening to music, I used tools like Google Forms. However, it was not really "collaborative", and honestly, not that engaging or fun. Here, I asked what people feel when they listen to music, and inputted some of my personal answers to test it out. I believe that using AnswerGarden would have encouraged more people to participate and answer the question honestly due to its anonymous nature. It definitely encourages communication, collaboration, and brainstorming by visibly seeing what others have to say about the topic at hand. It also makes it easy to go through all the answers instead of having to flip through various individual forms.

I choose to use the website Answer Garden for a number of reasons. I have used it in a setting where I was the one answering a question and I loved how the design was, especially because it is anonymous. I was wondering how hard or easy it would be to make one, so I sent out a link to a bunch of my family and friends and asked them some simple movie recommendations. As the screenshot shows, not even the person who made the answer garden can see who wrote the responses which can be greatly used in a class setting, no matter how big or small. Many kids nowadays are scared to answer questions because they dont want to get it wrong and for them to be called out on. They are scared that other people would judge them for getting a question wrong, so this helps keep that students privacy. A teacher can then go over each of the wrong answers and explain why it is incorrect. This could also be used as an icebreaker to get to know students for fun.

For this project, I chose to create an artifact using Infogram. As a Political Science student, I am very accustomed to employing infographics such as charts within the classroom. Although these charts are typically used in academic research papers, I felt that they have much potential in enhancing communication and collaboration within a classroom.

For my artifact, I made a mock approval rating system based on answers supplied by my students. I would collect answers via Google Forms, and in the next class, display the approval rating based on the responses of the students. I would then compare the class's opinions to public opinion polls. I feel that this infographic would help spark meaningful conversations about why we approve of presidents and why, providing the students with an outlet to discuss their own opinions in class with their peers.

The website mentimeter is an interactive tool that allows presenters to interact with their audiences while the presentation is taking place. This tool can be used not only by teachers in classrooms, but also in work settings such as in the example provided above. I chose to focus on this tool specifically because of the “one-sidedness” that comes with lectures and presentations. Presenters are unable to determine whether their audiences are fully engaged, and interactive tools such as this one allows audience members to submit feedback on information through polls, surveys, word clouds, etc. The example I created was for the purpose of demonstrating an effective way to use this tool in a collaborative setting, specifically a group project. In my example, group members are able to access the presentation through a QR code. Not only is this more efficient than having to schedule a meeting time around each member’s busy schedules, but also can be accessed at any location. I included the demonstration of how easy this website makes it to submit individual feedback and vote on certain ideas pertaining to the project. This allows group members to freely express their perceptions on the progress on the project along with suggestions of what could be focused on more or less. Lastly, the end of the presentation included a scale, allowing group members to rank how they feel towards the project as a whole. This allows group members to communicate their feelings towards how the project is going so that any questions or concerns can be addressed as swiftly and smoothly as possible.

For this task, I used AnswerGarden. I thought this would be a really cool way to recreate a simple marketing project that I completed a few years ago. The point of that project was to just gather what cities students in the class were from, and then have Google Forms show us a few different ways the data could look. With AnswerGarden here, I took all the data from that project and imputed it to create this cool visualization of where my classmates are from. The larger text shows that more respondents were from that partciular area, and I think this is a much more vizually appealing way to look at this kind of data. Previously, were just had a list of cities and percentages, but now this image clearly communciates where everyone is from most prominently. It also uses Collaboration, as everyone would have to use the website to submit their response to create the image.

The tool that I used to change the format of one of my projects that I recently just did was a website called Venngage. On this website, you can create infographics, slideshows, posters, and much more. My project was in my real estate finance class and we had just made a simple google slides presentation to teach the class about private real estate equity funds. Venngage made my project better because it was able to compress all of the information into an simple infographic and make the information easily digestable. I think that it is more to the point and easier to read than my original powerpoint. It provides a visually pleasing and interesting format that I'm sure my classmates would like to see as additional information.

For my tool i used picktochart.com. Recently i was tasked with creating some type of tool to help students i tutor for my UNIV 1204 class. I chose to make a flowchart/infographic helping breakdown the financial statements seen often by all business majors. Originally i used some basic free to use app that had a lot of features that were behind a paywall. So i ended up creating a flowchart that did not disclose a lot of information and was hard to follow. Piktochart took all of the information i inputted and really wanted to emphasize and helped to format it in a way that breaks down the financial statements in a visual aspect as well. Piktochart helped add pictures and then format it in a way that has a flow similar to that of the creation and the timeline of making financial statements as a business. Piktochart has improved the communication of the information i was trying to present within my flowchart and now advances the message in a way that can be understood by many more.

For this assignment, I created an old assignment from a previous class. Before it was just a document with bulleted facts but now it is a creative, eye grabbing infographic that is way more creative and valuable as well. I created this visual that explains why exercising is healthy and the benefits it brings to people physically, emotionally, and mentally. Using something like Canva rather than a bulleted document is way more effective for the reader. This enhances communication because firstly, it is easier for them to retain the information with visuals and an organized manner. Using Canva for group work can also be very effective for collaboration because of its organization to be able to divide and conquer.

I wanted to try a tool like Prezi, but this was an easy tool that was free and accessible. Originally, I had used Google slides for the project, but I feel like this method promotes more effective communication by allowing to see all parts of the trip in one slide. It also allows collaboration for those that have an account (hence why I included a screenshot), so others can edit on the same page. One tool includes being able to hyperlink within the presentation. I enjoyed using this tool, and I think it is a great way to communicate a lot of information at once.

Last year, I did a paper for Personal Finance where I had to hypothetically invest $1000 in either Amazon or Walmart. I chose to invest in Amazon and backed it up with multiple different reasons. This chart shows the growth of the two stocks between the time of the project (May 2, 2023) and todays date (Feb 27, 2024). The chart provides a visual on how the stocks have grown over time and is an indicator that Amazon was the better buy as it has increased by 67% over the time frame, while Walmart has increased by 18%.

So first, for this format I reconstructed some notes I had from last years Risk Management 4000 class. I used the website "Miro"; which uses Journey Mapping that can help with visual aid. For me note-taking is definitely boring for me and a lot of other people I imagine. I first took a sample of my notes within talking about employee benefits. Which in the picture there are only some of the different ones but creating it into a diagram like this helps you look at it at a different perspective. Furthermore, using this tool that can be created to use flowcharts and step by step models is easier to comprehend and understand rather than taking plain, boring notes. You cna bring out the more specific notes and make them more seeable and eventually it will "stick" to your brain more. I know this website can help me in the future and I plan to be using it a lot more.

I created a digital whiteboard to use during a group presentation I recently just completed. The presentation required my group to create a solution to a problem in the FinTech Industry. I laid out the plan for our meeting and the tasks we needed to complete to complete the presentation. The digital whiteboard includes the date, time, group members, meeting purpose, topics, tasks, and task assignments. The digital whiteboard can be used to stay on task, ensure nothing is forgotten, and complete the presentation. I used this tool to also assign responsibilities and tasks to group members.

Explain Everything is a great tool to enhance communication and collaboration and is especially better than our original method. In our original method, we just hopped on a Zoom meeting for five minutes, came up with an idea, and attempted to assign roles to each group member. However, after the Zoom meeting, I was very confused and had a few unanswered questions but I did not speak up. Due to that, our presentation did not go as planned. Therefore, the digital whiteboard could have been used to address everything, answer any questions, and lay out the plan very thoroughly. Explain Everything also can host virtual meetings and Zoom has the Zoom Whiteboard, which is a similar tool. So my group could have used either tool to enhance our communication and collaboration.

I wanted to get a tool that was able to organize and create different topic discussions in one screen and this does just that. Miro is a program where you can have a class discussion, or present ideas all together in live time. My past professor had us create powerpoints of our thoughts, feelings, and insight on books we read. This caused us to not really collaborate with other groups and see their perspectives. With this program you can put all your ideas on the board. This allows us to see other views of discussions or topics that are being discussed. This would increase or collaboration and discussion in the class room because then groups could ask each other why they thought a certain way and go from there. It is a way to see what others think and learn more about the task at hand. I thought this program would be helpful to many classes rooms and I wish I used something like this as well.

I selected Piktochart for my artifact because of its versatile range of information presentation options, particularly its ability to create visually appealing infographics and data visualizations. For my project redo, I crafted a visual representation of the investment decision process between American and Alaskan Airlines, using Piktochart's features to showcase key financial metrics and analysis. Throughout the process, I delved into Piktochart's tools for creating charts and graphs to illustrate operating revenue growth and calculate the TIE (Times Interest Earned) ratio, ultimately concluding that American Airlines was the better recommendation and investment decision based on these factors. Before I had done this on powerpoint, and it was more reading off of slides than a visual implementation of our findings through the project.

The tools are a bit different, but after using them for a bit, I found that Snappa is actually really simple to use. I started from scratch which was probably harder than choosing a template. I had to display the different levels of sponsorship, and choosing the colors and background along with inserting the images was very simple.

I used Infogram, an infographic design tool, to convert a lab report I did for a freshman year ecology course from a simple word document to something more visually appealing. The original project required us to display the lab's findings on a plain document, which I didn't believe to be the most effective to share the information. I utilized the website's various tools, including its text boxes, shapes, icons, and graphing tools to elevate my assignment. I chose to create an infographic because they are a more compelling and dynamic way to communicate information. Infographics capture readers' attention more effectively than plain documents, and their visual content enhances memory retention. They also boost share-ability on social media platforms, increasing the reach and visibility of the content being communicated.

While scrolling through the website, there's practically nothing that Basecamp doesn't offer. Some things that it offers includes an online calendar so that groups can collectively see what they have to do in the near future, chatrooms so that everyone can easily communicate with each other, and the ability to upload docs so that everyone can access it. The main reason I like this website for group projects is because it is an all in one website in which everything you'll ever need for a group project will be on one website. This means that if you ever have to message your group mates, see others works, or just what you have to do for the week, it'll all be on here.

I created a AnswerGarden to replace a google survey I sent out prior to giving a presentation on what types of music people enjoy listening to for my English class. AnswerGarden is a website that takes data from students and populates it on the screen, changing the size of answers based on frequency of the answer. It is a creative, fun, and interactive way to gather data from students that keeps students engaged.

With the google survey, I was given the data and then only able to scan the answers over myself, and then covey to the class my findings. With answer garden, I am able to display the information to the class in a more creative method. I also believe it is a more interactive manner of conducting a survey, and it allows students to search for and see their own answer on the projector, rather than simply listening to me list off the top music genres that students listened to. With google, I was able to convert some of the data into bar graphs, but I believe that the AnswerGarden conveys the same information in a more creative and fun way that would keep students more engaged.
