Similar to cats, humans come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. Teachers must be aware of the cultural diversity that exists in their classrooms. According to Brozo, "It is clear from demographic trends that this diversity among adolescents will
only continue to increase over the coming years and decades"(Brozo, 2015, p.9). As a future teacher, I will make it a priority to create a learning environment in which my students will accept and support their differences in physical appearance, race, ethnicity, and cultural backgrounds.

One important aspect of effective teaching is creating a learning environment that promotes collaboration and social interaction amongst the students. Teachers must construct their curiccullum in a way that will intergrate meaningful community-engagement with instruction. This will promote student engagement and motivation in the classroom. According to Brozo, "motivation cannot be detached from social contexts, such as classrooms, families, and communities." (Brozo, 2017, p.174).

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!" In the field of education, the role of the teacher is to provide their students with the most effective methods and supplies ("lemons") for optimal learning. Throughout my learning this semester, I have learned about several strategies and teaching tools that instructor can implement in their classroom. For example, SDAIE strategies can be used to support all students (especially EL students) and cater to their unique needs. Some example of such strategies are 1-on-1 check ins, targetted feedback, and strategic partnering.

In order to guide their students in becoming productive members of society, teachers must build strong foundations by encouraging their students to be critical, creative thinkers and doers. By incorporing meaningful class discussions and brainstorming activities (Echevarria et al., 2018), teachers will promote "authentic learning" by challenging their students to think outside the box.

Gaining knowledge about literacy in P.E.

Before taking part in this course, I was not aware of the idea that general literacy strategies could be implemented in Physical Education lessons. Nowadays, many physical educators believe that their lessons should solely focus on physical activity and movements. However, there are several methods that a physical educator can use in order to develop students' vocabulary and knowledge. All students should have the opportunity to learn how to write and read, no matter which class/subject they are in. African American liberator and statesman, Frederick Douglass spoke on the importance of reading and writind, and how it impacted him at a young age. Specifically, "when he clandestinely learned to read as a boy, the blinders fell away, and he could see his circumstances of bondage more clearly than ever before." (Brozo, 2017, p. 217)
