<title>I used to think that in order to achieve academic success for any learner including ELL, the focus had to be on the difficulties the student faced. Also, in terms of ELL, I never knew about the STEP framework and that there is a full on process for achieving academic success specifically for ELL. Now I think and know that in order for a student to be successful in their learning we need to look at their strengths as well and for educators use the STEP framework!</title>

<title>I used to think that ELL learners needed instruction outside of the classroom. I now think that inclusion within a classroom is an essential component to ELLs feeling valued, a sense of belonging and give them the opportunity to increase both their social and academic language in an effective manner.</title>

However, my mindset was the one that was not ready to understand that I can create the environment that can benefit them and help them. In fact, once upon a time we were all learners, and I believe that the environment that we are situated in helps us from benefiting or discouraging the tasks that we do.</title>

<title>I used to think ELL learners were only the immigrant students who were learning English for the first time and not the students who were born here but speak a different native language. Now I think that a large majority of students are ELL, we need to be more diligent in delivering curriculum with that in mind so that we can best accomodate and teach ELL learners.</title>
