Initial idea: We came up with a simulation-based play where we would play characters in a video game. The premesis would be that if we died in the game we would die in real life. We made a scene using chairs to show how we entered the game. We thought unconventionally about how to use the chairs which was inspired by complicité. We read a book called the nether to be inspired for the simulation game and and since the book was quite trippy and scary we came up with working with fears as different levels in the game. We initially thought about using the four elements as a theme and a red line throughout the piece to make its purpose to be about environmentalist awareness. However we discovered that that idea was stupid and ditched it since it didn't melt together with the levels being about fears. It wasn't coherent. We watched Black Mirror episodes for the inspiration for the simulation.

We started working on the first level. Me and Ela wrote our monologues for it and we started creating her scene. Her scene was about the fear of dolls and that was inspired by Ela´s personal fear. She performed her monologue when me, Peta and Berfin personified her fear around her by playing dolls. We went away from naturalism since that seemed a bit too uninteresting for the piece. We started to sing ring of roses in a low pitch but I commented on that it would be more intimidating and scary if we sang it in a higher one. We found our scene eerie and showed a part of it to Neil. He did not like it. He said that it was a boring idea since the audience would not be able to relate to all the fears and the impact would not be strong. Also that we did not really have any aims and intentions with it.

We brainstormed as a group and decided to redo our story completely. We looked back at the book the nether which was about pedophilia and understood that something more controversial would make a bigger impact than fears. So we started thinking about controversial topics and started talking about prostitution and trafficking which is a huge problem. I mentioned the story about Cyntoia Brown which is a girl that killed her rapist to escape years of abuse but is now facing a lifetime sentence. We started thinking about the injustice in the justice system surrounding victims of sexual abuse and decided that the intentions and aims of our play could be raising awareness about that injustice.

We watched a devise piece about a contained woman and she was running around screaming wearing a white oversized shirt and thats how we got our costume idea to wear the same. We agreed on that we all would play prostitutes captured. Peta came with the idea that she would be a child so that the empathy would lie on her and would be a catalyst in the play to move it forward.
