&amp;nbsp;

Accreditation can be broadly divided

participating company accreditation. &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; There are at present a multitude of
accreditation bodies operating in the UK in General and Wales in particular so
we need to determine which to use.

&amp;nbsp;

Course accreditation

&amp;nbsp;

By definition, an accredited course is
one with a qualification attached to it and a non-accredited course one without
a qualification attached. It is also possible to have a partially accredited
course. One suggestion might be:

&amp;nbsp;

1st summer is as a
stand-alone non-accredited course or perhaps accreditation by a less
prestigious body while the second summer provides accreditation by a highly
prestigious body if completed.

&amp;nbsp;

Under the new over-arching standards
for Professional Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers in the Lifelong
Learning Sector in Wales&amp;nbsp;a qualification should follow the Qualifications
and Credit&amp;nbsp;Framework (QCF) which is superseding the National Qualification
Framework (NQF)&amp;nbsp;.&amp;nbsp;[?Still valid, though].

&amp;nbsp;

College wide accreditation

&amp;nbsp;

CAVC is affiliated with the following
organisations. Described in the affiliation section of the home page as “our
partners.” Some of these are accreditation bodies per se; some are potentially
accreditation bodies and others are may be non-accrediting affiliates.

&amp;nbsp;

School accreditation

&amp;nbsp;

The partnership schools will doubtless
have some accreditation.&amp;nbsp;There may be some difficulty&amp;nbsp;to pick a
school which harmonises with similar accreditation to the college, in
particular, it may be difficult to properly accredit a course if the school
still follows the NQF framework. [Or vice versa]. 

&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;Participating
Company accreditation

&amp;nbsp;

If a company is to visit, we will need
to ensure that it is professional, etc.

&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;

There’s also Estyn, which white not
accreditation per se seems to be looming in the background.

&amp;nbsp;

The purpose of Estyn is to inspect and report
on the quality and standards of education and training provided in Wales,
including:

&amp;nbsp;

·&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
how far education and training meet the needs of
learners and contribute to their development and wellbeing; 

·&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
standards achieved; and 

·&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
the quality of leadership and training.

I
was thinking that we would need to decide on an ESOL exam to be the
accreditation eg Trinity or similar, so that the ss have a clear indication of
their level of English to present to the college.

There are a few. Are we sticking with

We all know what Cambridge did pulling
out of ESOL Skills for Life but other bodies running ESOL Skills for Life are:

Then there&#39;s Agored/Open College
Network, the Cambridge KET, PET FCE and CAE exams, National literacy test,
Citizenship test and London Chamber of Commerce which I have to mention because
I used to be an oral examiner for them.
