This is the most horrific image I've found on the internet. The dim red lights coming from the building look either like an unknown entity or glooming madness. This image reminds me of a ghost town in horror movies. The swirling of darkness and mist makes the atmosphere even more unsettling and nerve-wracking.

The second image looks like an abandoned dungeon from the underground. This image is really unsettling because of its location and darkness. This image is what I pictured as a ‘abandoned dungeon underworld with entities’. The walls of this hallway underground are made out of cobblestone. The candle on the front means that somebody/something has been here before. The door in front of this image could be good or could be bad. It is mysterious and what lies beyond it, I predict, won’t make this image look any more relieving. The dim light coming from the candles portrayed a bit of hope in this image, making it a bit scarier. If this was an image, the person taking this photo would have been likely chased by something, like a ghost or unknown being. The gray and gloomy atmosphere in this picture feels like something trapped in here. The setting of this image might be a labyrinth or a non-human underground system. The cobblestone walls look stone cold, giving the clue that the person cannot escape. The endless swirling of darkness in this picture and its realisticness makes me feel that something might just appear out of the door and swallow me full. The shadows casting from the doors also make this dungeon more unappealing, giving it a negative sense of terror.

This image tells a gloomy and spooky atmosphere, with a haunted household and darkness surrounding the place. It looks as if it is haunted by ghosts. A graveyard is next to the household. The mist makes the atmosphere more spooky and fearful. There is low lighting, with the only source of light coming from the moon and dim lights inside the house. The atmosphere looks supernatural and certainly not real.

This picture also suits the description of Gothic Horror as the image itself at first glance already looks spooky enough to be considered as horror. Like the last image, the image is covered with what looks like endless swirls of darkness and decay. This looks like an atmosphere from a movie or nightmare because of its unnatural appearance. Anybody that even visualizes this image would be scared, let alone be in it.

Knock knock. It was a Monday morning when the bell rang. Daniel’s mother replied,’Daniel! Come downstairs and open the door. I bought some perfume last week, and the delivery might be here.’ Daniel hesitated as he slowly climbed downstairs. Something was odd though, the wooden door seemed to carve a black shadow onto the wooden floor. Daniel sensed darkness coming outside the door. But being a brave boy, he didn’t give his instincts a second thought, and as he opened a door, he saw a grim reaper, twice the size of Daniel, staring at him with eyes full of panic and sorrow.

I agree with this statement, as reading is for entertainment and knowledge, and gothic horror novels portray a plot which is designed to be pleasurable and terrifying. Gothic novels are not supposed to seriously frighten their readers, but the amount of horror involved should be able to drag the reader into the book. Gothic horror, in my opinion, makes readers question reality and the purpose of it. Many characters in Gothic novels are trapped in danger, so the plot is not entirely fictional.

I do believe that monsters live inside us all. Monsters are not real beings, but the bad side of a human being is its monster. Tragedy can also be a monster, as it sometimes creates the monsters that lurk inside us. I believe that monsters are just the negative side of everyone, and everybody has one. It's just about the quantity of the monster. Monsters in society are just an abstract way of saying the bad side of society, including racism and sexism. If a person does good needs and benefits and commits to society, then the monsters in their body will reduce. If a person commits crimes and does illegal actions to society, the person has a bigger monster inside him.

Personally, this question is kind of controversial. Scientists research and experiment for a reason, and that reason is to improve and upgrade our technology and society. On the other hand, they should minimize risks and danger as well as damaging the environment or doing things like animal testing. But if it really does contribute to society, a bit of risk is no harm. I would still prefer scientists to take little steps rather than taking a huge step ignoring the risks of it.
