Bruce's family didn't buy many things, but what they did buy was a television. This television impacted Bruce's early childhood gratefully. "Through the lens of the TV screen -- seven or eight inches across, black and white and grainy -- came the wide world" (Dickinson 18). There were many drawbacks, like how it took minutes to warm up was in black and white, however, he didn't realize them for he was living during the early stages of the television. His family hosted visitors in which it became an event, where they wouldn't even watch it, they'd more or less caress it due to its mystique.

After pissing in the beans, Bruce and his friends decided that they were bored and stole keys to the house bar in the attic. After sneaking around to get there, they locked themselves in and started to drink their pints, realizing that Bruce would surely get in trouble somehow. The next morning after lunchtime, he was called down to the housemaster. He told Bruce, "'There's nothing I can do to save you'...'This is not the kind of behavior we tolerate in a civilized establishment. Therefore I must ask you to leave the school.'" (Dickinson 93). In Bruce's head he thought about the sheer hypocrisy the school showed doing this to him. Things like the cover ups, the maintenance of good order also known as bullying. All Bruce could do was smile and look him in the eyes thinking "You have eaten my piss." (94)

He would tell Bruce his aircraft stories while siting on his lap. And because of Uncle John, young Bruce built an entire plastic air force full of Vulcan bombers as well as naval ships. John took him to his first airshow where he experienced earth quaking jets like the Vulcan that shattered roofs before health and safety noise abatement had every been a thing. "Uncle John introduced me to the world of machinery and mechanisms..." (Dickinson 23).

The school was infamous for apparent 5 year olds beating up the teachers. Although never doing that, Bruce was beat up in the school. When he returned from school beat up his grandfather fixed him up and showed him how to fight properly. His grandfather told him afterward, "'Now go and find the lad that did it. And sort him out.'" (25). After the fight, in hindsight Bruce though perhaps the boxing lessons may have been too effective.

The band that truly introduced Bruce into Rock 'n' Roll was known as the Casuals. At the time they were residing in the Dickinson's hotel during the day and going to local bars playing their music. Bruce described them as "being creatures of the night, did't start till midday -- they would surface, bleary-eyed and long haired, in stack-heeled boots and white trousers." (Dickinson 37). One time after boring the band with facts about submarines, they brought down an electric guitar and played it, which caught Bruce's eyes.

For Bruce the karts were incredibly fast especially since he had never even turned a wheel before. "I turned the wheel, did a 360-degree spin and stalled the engine. I did the same thing at just about every corner round the circuit...followed by two very sweaty brothers gasping thier last after chasing me round the circuit and restarting me half-a-dozen times." (Dickinson 47-48). Afterward, he thought to himself that he clearly needed more information on how one was able to drive the go-kart, which funneled into more of an obsession of machinery..

At age 10 Bruce decided to experiment with religion. "I don't recall my baptism, but apparently I somehow managed to ingest quite a quantity of holy water. I could have drowned in the font. I am not sure that swallowing God's special sauce caused any sort of aura to appear, but it might have been an influence on my early interest in angel wings."(Dickinson 49). Set out with the knowledge of his purpose was to convert people to Christ, he handed a group of girls a leaflet and invited them to a church related activity, however, the usual robust response was "'Fuck off, you twat.'"(51). Later in church while singing hymns, the reverend walked by telling him to sing louder, where he eventually told Bruce he had a good singing voice. But one thing that was not appealing to Bruce was being in the church's choir, so with a singing test, he was very proud to say that he failed every note he was meant to sing.

Bruce wanted to be a drummer, so since his boarding school had an after school session for kids with instruments, he went just to check it out. He realized everyone there was just trying to look cool, as posers. Since Bruce didn't have money to buy any equipment, he stole a pair of bongos from the school. Although his vision was cloudy, his purpose was crystal clear; form a band. Three others formed the new band and agreed to try and play "Let It Be" by the Beatles. However, the bassist tried lead vocals and couldn't get the high notes for his life. They suggested Bruce to give it a shot, and they played to the end of the song. "Mike, our bass player admitted defeat: 'I think you are our vocalist, dear boy.'"(Dickinson 87). This was the start of a legendary singing career for Bruce.

Awaiting the punishments, Bruce was in awe of the fact there really wasn't none. And he liked the school. A little later he joined the Territorial Army, to be on call 24/7 in event of a war. But during that he found a group that needed a singer, and in that group was his old drumming buddy Paul Bray. After being inducted into the new band called "'Paradox'...I thought it was a rubbish name." (Dickinson 98). They were rewarded with three quid and a hamburger and beer each. Next was a council-sponsored booking in the Weston Park by which the DJ that showed up may have been on acid. The headline band however, was known as the "Greensleeper". They had fans that would go with them to pubs just to see their performance and leave when the band leaves. And because of them, the band had to set up on the smaller stage in bright sunshine. When they started to play, the audience consisted of a few kids eating ice cream and a gentlemen who started shouting, "' Shut up -- I'm trying to sleep!'"(Dickinson 102). With their spirits low, Bruce wanted to change their band name to "Styx" even when someone else's band was named it.

A constant ritual would happen for the new band. It would be just doing a few gigs every week and then get hammered everywhere else. Virtually everyone liked this and didn't want this to end. Therefore, after drinking three pints, Bruce got back to the rehearsal area and found that their bassist, Chris, had a light white crusting on the tip of his nose. However, Bruce didn't know what it was even when ironically, he used to be on a band called "Speed". Paul the guitarist on the other hand, was carefully rolling on of several joints using resin crushed atop tobacco removed from a Marlboro cigarette. Barry, the drummer, was being usually calm from being his usual bouncy self, in which he decided to down a handful of downers along with his pint. So as they started, they had a stoned guitar, speeding bass, drunk vocals and drums that would periodically lose consciousness and play quickly to make up for it.

Third, when I do get the job, and I will, are you prepared for a totally different style and opinions and someone who is not going to roll over?'"(Dickinson 175). With 5 more albums set to be within another 5 years, it would have to be done without their drummer; Clive Burr. The cause was between Clive and Steve their bass player. Clive was the outgoing guy off stage but approximate when it cam to onstage while Steve was she off stage but aggressive and precise onstage. When it came time, he was equipped with maps and everything he needed along with the instructor. The takeoff was smooth and continued to ascend to 7,500 feet where it started to become cold. He made sure to ask the instructor if there was turbulence or not where the instructor told him there wouldn't be. So they resorted to whipped cream instead. Some plates of whipped cream made its way onto the catwalks on the rear of the stage. This triggered an incident. It turned to be slippery like oil and because of this Bruce came falling from 12 feet of the stage to the floor. But it happened to fast that the band didn't notice and because all falls are in slow motion, Bruce tried to slide to a stop but went in head first into the drum kit. Then he would try to bounce off the drum and then roll forward onto the stage. Doing this he was in very much pain and because of it, in a show in Japan, Bruce's back gave wasy making him spend the next four weeks hobbling around.

In 2012, with the band aging to become more fragile, they decided they don't have to conqueror the world again. With that they got a whole year to rest and get ready for their last greatest tour. Bruce since he was an airplane pilot, worked for an airliner named "Astraeus". Since day one, it never was in any sort of good financial areas; it was losing money. There were many reasons, but a big factor was the Icelandic owner had insisted on using Bruce's aircraft for bargain-based rates. And to make it worse, two-thirds of the fleet were sent to Iceland for the summer. This caused them to be in need of a better plane so he'd eventually visit Boeing in Seattle which meant he'd meet his namesake; Bruce Dickinson. They let him fly the simulator of their new plane as a demonstration of what it could do. And to his surprise it was incredibly advanced. And because of this experience, it would help Bruce they were to discover America was much easier and delightful to fly in.

Bruce by now thought his auditioning days were over but after a proposal to develop a Maiden beer, they had to producer had to make sure they were serious. However, the only two big ale drinkers in the band were Nicko and Bruce. Due to this, the reality was that someone would have to drink sensibly and creatively to come up with a beer called "Trooper". When Bruce's taste buds were put to the test by tasting and identifying beers, to his surprise he identified half a dozen beers. And with this the brew master helped set a bare-bone sketch of what Bruce wanted to taste with different malt grains and hop teas. With two test brews created, it was the second version that became the "Trooper". This beer was an achievement for Bruce because 18 million pints of it was drunk worldwide.

The Fokker aircraft was among the first modern air force planes created. However, the creator died in his plane from a fired shot from the ground. This took Bruce's fascination making him a fan of this particular airplane. At the end of 2013, he bought one. On a daily basis he would have to talk himself out of buying one because he didn't have time or a place to store it. The aircraft was a replica and was for sale because the builder died in a team practice flying it. Bruce was amazed at it, like a little boy getting a new toy. When sitting in the cockpit, a chill went down Bruce's spine and he said, "'I'll buy it.'"(Dickinson 581). In love with it, it was also incredibly dangerous. Just starting it the massive wooden prop would kill you in an instant. That is why Bruce was so in love with it.

Bruce noticed something wrong with his body, he felt like he was about to catch a cold but didn't, he was sweating during the night and had a bump on his neck the smelled. In France, the doctor told him he needed a CT scan and an X-ray of his chest as well as anti-biotics in case it were to get infected. In England his doctor pulled a sample from the bump and he awaited the bad news. After missing three phone calls, Bruce new it was bad, he had squamous cells in his biopsy which were cancerous. On his way to a local pub, Bruce decided to have a mental chat with himself asking "'Why me?'"(Dickinson 596). To which he thought he was just out of luck. He thought about hating the cancer, but he thought life is too short to hate, especially with his situation.

Bruce went through with all the procedures to try and get rid of the cancer. Because of this he would have to use many medicines. Like the oral morphine drug which just made you drowsy and unable to poo. Movicol, various anti-emetic pills, occasional steroids and the oral morphine was his prescribed drugs to help him. During the process, he had lost over 20 pounds and his head felt like it was constantly on fire. This was probably caused by all the radiation used to detect the cancer with doses spread over 45 days. His body was starting to eat itself because his metabolism was extremely fast due to the damage of cells. After fighting cancer with excruciating pain, on May 13th he want in for a scan. Two days later he was clear of all cancer.
