The 13th Amendment was created in 1992, and was enacted by the U.S. Government. This law was big in the sense of what it covered. It made it so that any true citizen of the United States was equally protected under the law and would not be stripped of their natural given rights under protection of the constitution.

The Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order made by Abraham Lincoln in 1863. It legally freed all current slaves from their masters.

While the Civil Rights Act of 1964 required all voters to be treated equally, the 1965 Act banned the use of literacy tests. This made the federal government responsible for voter registration in areas where less than 50% of the non-white population had registered to vote. This law also authorized the U.S. attorney general to investigate the use of poll taxes in state and local elections.
