In traditional Korean culture, boys are often privileged over girls. I saw this happen a lot when I visited my relatives as a child. My aunt would serve food to the my uncles and even my 8-year-old nephew before the women. When I talked to my parents about this, they agreed that this was an unfair and outdated tradition. I decided that I would teach my own children differently in the future.

On a nice summer day I would go for hours upon hours to the park with my friends. We would play soccer for most of the time, with each kick of the ball feeling like a new memory being made and our friendship growing even stronger. Growing up I was always around my older brother, always looking up to him, and even now I still admire him. He would be by my side every time I trained and for the long nights we would stay up playing video games. But more importantly he taught me valuable lessons on how to be confident and not afraid to meet new people by always showing me how to be kind and open minded.

I have been playing soccer ever since I could walk. Always kicking a ball and always having fun doing it. Now that I have gotten older the sport has become more competitive but still a positive outlet for me when i'm stressed or upset. Now moving into the future I still hope to continue to play and fuel my passion for the sport.

One of my favorite quotes/lessons from a movie is when rocky says "It ain't about how hard you're hit, it's about how you can get hit and keep moving forward" this quote really influences me everyday because it reminds me that life won't always be easy but I can't give up.
