I learned about the importance of protecting myself before helping a victim.          <description><![CDATA[<p>After the second unit of sport medicine I learned many important things when performing first aid. It was also very cool to learn about many different taping techniques that are beneficial to know in the future. I enjoyed this unit a lot because of all of the labs and practices. It made me excited  and prepared for the future because I will be studying exercise science. It was also very helpful to learn more about my dream career of physical therapy. All in all I really did enjoy this unit and I am excited to continue learning more in this class. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The function of the skeletal anatomy is that the ankle joint is primarily formed by three bones: tibia, fibula, and talus. These bones create a hinge point that allows dorsiflexion and plantarflexion. I also learned that the tibia holds 95-97% body weight and fibula holds 3-5% body weight. The function of the soft tissue anatomy is that the ligaments provide stability by connecting the bones and preventing excessive motion. Tendons attach the muscles to bones, muscles surround the ankle, and cartilage cushions the joint surface. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In this video I show how to complete the Thompson test. During the ankle evaluation lab I was able to perform tests and learn about these tests. I now know about the various tests and movements of ankle joints. I never knew that there are various tests that are used when testing for ankle injuries. These tests are used by professionals and I liked that I was able to learn them. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The the skeletal anatomy for the knee includes the femur, tibia, patella. And the soft tissue anatomy includes ACL and  PCL. I learned that the ACL stands for anterior cruciate ligament, and PCL stands for posterior cruciate ligament. I learned a lot from the notes we did and I enjoyed color coding each part. I also learned about what happens inside the knee when someone tears their ACL. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>During the knee evaluation lab I learned about new tests PTs do on patients to see if they tore their ACL. The most common injury in the knee is tearing your ACL therefore with the help of the knee notes I learned a lot about ACL tears, especially during this lab, where I was able to perform these tests on my friends. It was very cool to see how my partner's foot/knee reacted when I completed these tests. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>After the third unit of sports medicine I learned about the lower part of the body. During the gait analysis lab I learned a ton about my walking pattern. I never knew that I walk the way I walk and I really enjoyed this lab. In addition to, during the Q-angle lab for the knee, I learned how to use cool tools when measuring for knee discrepancies. Overall this unit was every interesting. Sports medicine is a very fun class and I can't wait to learn more next semester in sports med 2. This class is preparing me for what I want to be in the future and I am glad to have some experience before college!</p>]]></description>
