The problem I want to address is to take local handlooms or handicrafts to the global market. Many artisans are skill fully working in craft sectors of India and producing the environment friendly products. I also want to address the unnecessary waste of textiles

Dream: Sustainable Clothes & Work Environment

I want to create a brand of local craft and textiles with artisans from my city. I want to empower these workers with safe working conditions, fair pay, and teach them skills on how to produce sustainably while embracing their creative ideas. I'd work with them to produce items with recycled & natural fabrics/dyes. Product will be timeless & bohemian, with personal touches and homages to local craftsmanship

Proposition: Workshops & Seminars

I'd host workshops that producers/consumers/artists can attend. The local artisans will teach them new skills (naturally dyeing, weaving with organic/recycled materials, etc.). This empowers our artisans. It teaches consumers about shopping/producing sustainably. These workshops would be hosted as trips with other local experiences involved. This creates an educational value and an aspiration to travel. Furthermore, the company would have a brick & mortar store (along with website/social media) that is bright, cozy, eclectic & fashionable. This is aesthetic value. As the producers are paid fairly, it creates economic value.

Circular: as we would use natural dyes/fabrics, biodegradable finishing, & recycled fabrics.
Community: relies on local community of artisans for production. Also building a community of producers/consumers through educational workshops in addition to community of online shoppers, and taking up the local craft to global platforms

We would be working with the Recycle R strategy as we utilize recycled materials where possible. We'd also Rethink, as our workshops would turn our brand into somewhat of a "travel & learn" program, so when they go home they can continue to buy/create sustainably and Refuse to shop synthetics/and non-fair trade. In addition, a strategy would be cultivating a store/workshop space that's attractive and using social media to connect with consumers.

This business has a positive lasting impact, affecting the producers, the consumers, and the environment.
- Lower levels of chemical waste due to using all-natural dyes.
- Lower use of water/textile/chemical waste by using natural, organic, and recycled fabrics.
- Fair wages and working environments for artisans, increasing their standard of living
- Closes the gap between consumer and producer, familiarizing people with who made their clothes and learning from these artisans
- Teaches consumers about how to shop, create, and live sustainably long-term.

Trade-off: Still an international business model, meaning there will be some emissions with international shipping/travel.

Time-frame: 10 year plan, started with my own personal funding to travel and learn from these artisans before starting the business with them.
