There two types of Formative Assessment:
Informal:
The are usually quick and easier to gather data. They are usually a simple way of gathering knowledge from students; from such knowledge a teacher can judge where students are at with certain ideas or subjects. An example would be making students use yes or no cards for different questions. Than using that knowledge to help students get back on track for certain subjects.
Formal:
This usually a longer and more official way of gathering knowledge. This is usually a test or project of sorts that will gather knowledge on how a student is doing with a subject. It is usually a lot more concrete or may be an actual grade on a smaller assignment,

A good but typically longer process is a pre-test. This can help gauge what specific areas of the unit a student does or does not know. From there you can focus on subjects they may not understand as well and focus less on subjects they do know

First, I would like to find a great way to collaborate with other teachers with the data that we gather. I think that would be one of the hardest steps as getting people to work together can a strong challenge. But if it works correctly, I should be able to see different viewpoints on teaching certain subjects to students.
Second, I would like to find the best ways to make formative assessment that gives back critical thought and understanding along with procedural fluency. Just know certain steps or what a student got wrong will not help any student. Instead they need to engage what they be missing and how they can come with solutions to problems based off what given to them. I hope to in act such engagement by having discussions or debates over subjects that students may have a problem with. Furthermore, I hope to implement multiple methods to teach lessons through materials such as livebinder which allows multiple ways of learning a subject if given the right tools.
