She attended Mercer High School, and decided to enroll at Gannon University after graduation. She majored in Physician Assistant studies. Concluding her 5th year of college, she moved on to work as a PA and specialized in pediatrics. For almost 40 years she worked at a healthcare facility in New York City. Through her younger years, she volunteered as an assistant counselor of children for a local church's Vacation Bible School and summer camps. Additionally, she was the Secretary of the Interact Club in high school. This organization allowed her to participate in various community service activities. After high school, she spent time donating help to a local nursing home as an activities assistant. As for volunteering in college, when she found space between classes she spent her time at the Humane Society animal shelter in Erie, PA.
