In this quote from Emerson's book , Nature, he is expressing his passion for the outdoors. Emerson describes nature as the closest feeling to gods presence. To appreciate its power you must become one with nature. When that happens he realizes his place in the wilderness as a "transparent eyeball". He uses the eyeball to show he can see all things around him, but he’s transparent since he's there for the experience of solitude.
