It was a 1794 uprising of farmers and distillers in western Pennsylvania in protest of a whiskey tax enacted by the federal government. <br>2. What was the Federalists motivation for the Judiciary Act of 1801 and the midnight judges? To extend their influence by increasing their hold on the judiciary. It was a law passed in the last days of the John Adams administration (1797–1801), that reorganized the federal judiciary and established the first circuit judgeships in the country. </div>]]></description>
