         <title>Pearl Harbour (December 1940)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Japanese launched a surprise attack  on the US  naval base at Pearl Harbour in Hawaii. Of  the 8  battleships  of the US Pacific fleet , 2 were destroyed , 3  severely damaged and  3 damaged. Of the 394 airfcraft on the island , 164 were destroyed  and 159 damage . In addition 2395service personnel  and civilians  were killed, and 1178 wounded.<br>Immediately after what they saw  as their military triumph, the Japanese began their conquest of the Philippines from the USa , of Malaya , Burma and Hong Kong from Britain, and the East Indies  from Holland, in addition  to their conquests in China and French Indochina. <br>Four days after Pearl Harbour attacks , Germany and Italy declared war on the USA</div>]]></description>

The Soviets who were expecting it, made massive preparations. <br>With massive  German losses in men(500,000 killed, wounded , or missing)  and equipment. It was the first time a blitzkrieg  had been  stopped.</div>]]></description>
