As well there was a lot of emotional damage that occurred as well. No person would be able to take this well no matter who they are. Torture is torture and does call damage. No person should undergo torture no matter what they have done. Those are the human rights that we are born with.

Will there ever be a law that will keep people from not being able to torture anyone? Parallel to Winston's torture, the government psychologically and psychically impact the prisoners that they torture.

The government in Iran conducts many activities to control their citizens. They would slap, cut and rub salt on wounds to prevent the person from sleeping. The government would put them on a stool and convince them to hang themselves. Also, they'd kick a persons teeth in, beat them with cables, and damage genitals. The Iranian government would torture them by being hung, raped, flogging, amputation and stoned. In order to fight back a corrupt government, having a simple protest wouldn't really have and affect, but there would be a need to get evidence to prove the government wrong. Once they have that evidence, they would be able to advocate for themselves and do things to fight for their rights.

- Why aren't we doing something, even if we know what's going on but not helping?
- If what Iran is doing is wrong, why aren't their groups rebelling and standing up for those who are/were torture?
- If torturing is wrong, why isn't it enforced all around the world

For example, they lock prisoners in a small room with no light, and they sit there for years. They get drowned in their thoughts and it disorients them, mentally. Another example is that they beat them until they get what they want, or want them to understand that whatever they've done was wrong.

Will there ever be a time that their citizens will rebel against their government?

The government of The Islamic Republic of Iran controls its citizens by making them fear the government. Iran publicly executes citizens and tortures citizens believe or claim are dissidents. The torture Iran utilizes is not only physical, but mental/psychological torture by keeping people up for long periods of time, containing them in cells the size of a shower, keeping the light on all day, and putting them on stools to scare them. To fight against a corrupt government, countries need to boycott imports from those countries as leverage to force them to stop their violation of human rights. Citizens in the country need to find ways to communicate through social media without government surveillance so they can organize a revolt without government.

Questions

Why don't other countries take more actions to punish governments that violate human rights, such as with boycotts?

How long will Iran's government last?

Why are governments such as Iran's and North Korea's permitted to exist?

By forming an opinion and going against what the government says will automatically make them a target and they will be captured if the government views them as a threat. I would fight against a corrupt government by secretly forming a group that would risk their lives to fight for whats right and hope to gain a big group to eventually overthrow the government by taking out the corrupt people who are in power and placing someone who is good. If the people see what is done to others when they are kept in prisons for a wrongdoing, the citizens will be scared off and remain good... this is where being controlled is placed. There is a continuation between physical and psychological torture so that the person can give up his thinking power. They use torture to slow down the brain activity which forces a prisoner to confess what the government wants. The guy mentioned in the video that they kept the light on for 24 hours which impacted him mentally and emotionally. Then they used the physical torture, they would put his head in the toilet and put salt in his wounds.
Various torture methods are used to set an example in front of the citizens.
Why is the United States not helping the citizens of Iran?

The government in Iran controls their citizens through fear and torture. Anyone who might be against the government or represent their country in a negative way will be punished for their crimes. Although Iran denies that they torture their citizens, the man on the video clip proves them wrong since he was a prisoner. Torture methods such as cutting someone and rubbing salt were acted upon, as well as kicking their genitals, forcing them to stay awake, and keeping them mentally disoriented. Winston torture is similar in the book 1984. He is humiliated, physically tortured, and loses a sense of reality when there is no clock in the room he was placed in. Unlike the man on the clip, Winston gives in to the governement. Question: Are there groups out there in Iran or other countries that are focused on saving tortured prisoners.
