To defining such a complexity as religion in my own words is kinda impossible regarding for a person doesn't have reiligon. But I do like the definition from Ludwig Feuerbach"Religion is nothing more than a human projection or abstraction into the cosmos of ideas that have purely human origins."

However, exploring the subject of religion can be crucial in shifting the perspectives of many. It offers an in-depth comprehension that can enable a wider appreciation and recognition of religious diversity.

The Age of Enlightenment brought about a pivotal transformation in religious thought. This era saw a flood of innovative ideas wash over Europe, hallmarked by rationality, scientific pursuit, and the emphasis on the individual. This led to the distinct delineation between religious institutions and governmental authority.

Secularization has led to the weakening of the influence of religious institutions in the social and political spheres. In pre-modern times, religion was integrated into public life, and the idea of leaving it was often met with punitive measures.

My perspective on truth is notably relativistic. I hold that personal truths are sculpted by individual experiences. Every person interprets reality uniquely, which inevitably leads to disagreements and strife. In contrast, an absolutist viewpoint maintains that specific ethical standards, truths, or values hold a universal and objective status, transcending individual or cultural distinctions. The belief in the universal applicability of certain human rights to all, regardless of varied cultural or social backgrounds, exemplifies this absolutist stance.

What I learned about religion from this chapter that impressed me most was what the teacher mentioned in class， “To say of what is that it is and of what is not, that it is not.”

Symbols transcend their immediate, apparent meanings, embodying a profound and evocative power that often eludes direct verbal articulation. They gesture towards deeper truths that are typically beyond the reach of words. In embracing what symbols represent, we immerse ourselves in their significance. For instance, in Buddhism, affirming the symbol of the Lotus flower is to identify with the notion of purity and enlightenment emerging from the murky waters of material existence.

A example of the power of symbols is the use of the peace symbol, originally designed in the 1950s for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. It represents not only the absence of war, but also a positive state of harmony, understanding, and non-violent resolution of conflicts. Over time, the symbol was adopted by various peace movements around the world and became an important component of anti-war protests, the civil rights movement, and other social justice movements.
