The difference between the metatarsal bones of chickens and allosaurus is that chickens can use their metatarsals as perching digits. This means that the bone is opposable. On the other hand, the metatarsal of allosaurus is non-opposable - similar to dewclaws of dogs and cats. Just by looking at the picture, we can observe that the metatarsal of chickens are touching the ground while the allosaurus' are not. This is because the metatarsal of allosaurus is shorter than the chicken's. It also cannot bend excellently as chickens.

Based on the picture, chickens have opposable toes due to the way metatarsal of the back toe is twisted while developing phase in the egg. On the other hand, allosaurus did not have opposable toes. The opposable toe allows chicken to grasp and perch. For dinosaurs like allosaurus however had a small and non-opposable toe which did not touch the ground so it could not work as great as chickens’.
