As education becomes more competitive and as America tries to keep up with other first world countries around the world a big emphasis has been put on testing. With the increase, there has been a cut back on programs such as PE. With less PE classes students aren't being educated on being healthy and therefore, obesity is starting younger and is occurring more often.

I believe that obesity is a big problem within the United States. I think the problem has increased due to the lack of activity and the amount of processed foods consumed. While more processed food are being consumed by children, PE programs are being cut in school. This does not help the issue of obesity. Children and people within school need to be educated on how to engage in a physically active lifestyle and the benefits of physical activity. While the reality is that PE programs will not end the issue of obesity, it will contribute to people being more educated about physical activity and therefore give students the opportunity to engage.

I think that obesity in Americas youth is getting worse and worse. Not only do I think students get the exercise they need; but the schools don't serve the right nutrition diet. I think that schools dont need to keep cutting back the portions of food, they need a healthier menu. Making food in mass quantities doesn't mean it needs to be unhealthy or taste awful. I feel that is a common misconception at schools, especially many public schools. I think by changing the main diet of the kids that have to eat at school but don't have the option of exercise all the time and also changing the PE curriculum will help with obesity.
