Hi! My name is Ava Alexander, I am from Spring Texas, and I am a sophomore at the University of Arkansas. I am also a proud member of Alpha Phi which has given me the opportunity to connect with so many girls who also share the same passion for teaching as I do. Growing up, I have always wanted to teach and I am so excited to make that a reality. Ever since I first stepped into my kindergarten classroom, I knew I wanted to become a teacher, and since then I have never looked back!

Growing up, my mom was my best friend. She was a special education teacher at an elementary school in my hometown, so my whole life I have been around the classroom setting. Seeing the impact my mom left on her students and their families inspired me to want to be a teacher even more. By becoming a teacher, I not only accomplish many of my goals, but I also have the opportunity to make my mom proud as I follow in her footsteps.

My goal after graduation is to teach second or third grade at a public elementary school in Texas. As a future educator, I strive to create a safe space for my students as well as an equal opportunity for them to learn no matter their background or differences. I want to provide a fun and engaging environment for my students that gets them excited to come to class each day. As a teacher, I want to help my students grow both socially and academically while also encouraging them to make good choices. I can't wait to meet my future students and I hope to impact their lives, just as my teachers did for me.
