Gnocchi are plump little dumplings made mostly out of potato. This dish has evolved in many ways throughout the years all starting back in 1834. "The Encyclopedia of Pasta by Oretta Zanini De Vita tells us that gnocchi is primal pasta, the ancestor to all manner of noodles. As such, it sort of slips away from tidy definition." Gnocchi can be assorted in many different fashions when eating. It can be placed in a soup or even made into a pasta dish.

This classic Italian dessert is favorited worldwide. The Cannoli was originated in Sicily and during this time when it was created, the locals loved food that stood out and for them, the Cannoli did just that. A cannoli is described as "the outer shell is simply pastry dough that is made into a cone-like shape and fried. The filling is where the cannoli gets most of its flavor. The creamy and sweet filling is usually made from ricotta, but could also be made from marscapone cheese or a combination of both." Cannoli's have a wide variety of different combinations and fillings, just enough for everyone out there.

Cheese stuffed, meat stuffed, spinach stuffed, and lots more. This unique form of pasta creates loads of flavors due to the fact that Ravioli is stuffed. "Ravioli nudi, or “naked ravioli”, refers to simply the filling without the pasta shell." Seeing that Italian food has been strongly influenced worldwide, many different countries decided to create their own spin off of Ravioli's. For example, India has created a dish that is similar to Ravioli called "Gujiya" which is a sweet spin off that's filled with things like dried fruits and sugar and is then deep fried in oil. Ravioli was first created in way back in the 11th century and as per many other things since the 11th century, it has modernized in its own special way.

Based off prior experience, this soup is a favorite at Olive Garden. When offered "soup or salad" at the restaurant, a good portion of the crowd goes head over heels for their Minestrone soup. The word Minestrone means "Big Soup" to Italians and means a soup with lots of goodies in it , especially pasta, Beans and vegetables." Of course this dish has many spins offs and a mix up in recipes all based off of personal preferences and traditional aspects but which ever way you make this soup, it'll still be a delightful, classic Italian dish.

But to think that way would be like thinking the word ‘Sandwich’ means two pieces of bread with ham, cheese and mayo." Bruschetta is a generic term and actually comes in all different kinds but the classic, most common known form of Bruschetta is the tomato spread on Italian bread. Simply it is just toast. The word Bruschetta comes from "the Italian verb ‘brusciare’, meaning ‘to burn’… or ‘to toast’, if you will."

Based off research, I'm not the only one who agrees with that statement. Individuals from around the world love this dish. Spaghetti noodles have been used and recreated by multiple different cultures in a variety of dishes. At every Italian eatery you'll always be able to find spaghetti on the menu, more specially speaking, Spaghetti and Meatballs.

While there are many conflicting opinions on the historical intricacies, rice was first introduced to Italy and Spain by the Arabs during the Middle Ages." Throughout the years there has also been controversy about where Risotto originated from like Lasagna and many other Italian dishes. However, it is rooted from Italy and is now a days still a more popular Italian dish eaten in Italy and even here in the United States.

It sure doesn't get much better than that! Lasagna is one of the more traditional known Italian dishes even though there are many different theories about were Lasagna was originated from. There has been many different recreations of this dish in many unheard of forms. For example, have you ever heard of Taco Lasagna? What about Pizza Lasagna? These recreations have been Americanized to meet the likings of many people, however, nothing beats the traditional tomato layered meat sauce on pasta and smothered in cheese.
