French Foreign minister, Charles De Talleyrand refused to meet the Americans, and demanded a bribe and a load. Adams was furious, and urged Congress to prepare for war.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Alien and Sedition Acts - The Alien and Sedition Acts was an act proposed by Congress. The Naturalization Acts required Aliens to be in the U.s for 14 years. instead of 5. The Alien Acts allowed the president to imprison, or send those he considered "dangerous" out of the country. The Sedition acts made it a crime to speak, write, or publish "false, scandalous, and malicious" criticisms of the government. Many federalists believed that these acts would strengthen the Federalists and weaken the Republicans, but it ended being the opposite.</div>]]></description>

France was willing to sell the Louisiana Territory because Napoleon lacked military forces, and needed money to continue the war in Europe. The Louisiana Purchase was purchased for 15 million dollars. Jefferson believed this purchase was constitutional because it would provide cheap and abundant land for farmers, and that it doubled the size of the United States.</div>]]></description>

The war took place during the presidency of James Madison.  The war was caused by impressment, Britain siding with Native Americans, and the War Hawks wanting to expand the nation. The outcome of this war was a draw, but America felt like they were victorious since they had a draw with the most powerful nation.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Monroe Doctrine -  The Monroe Doctrine was a policy that prevented European colonization in the United States. Under the Monroe Doctrine,  American continents are closed for future colonization, European countries may not oppress or control their destiny, and that James Monroe promised not to interfere with European conflicts. Although European colonization in the United States was not allowed, they're only exception is weak or newly formed European countries, since it wouldn't be a threat.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<h1>Adams–Onís Treaty - The Adams–Onís Treaty was a treaty between the United States and Spain. The treaty was negotiated by John Quincy Adams, the Secretary of State under President James Monroe, and Spanish Foreign Minister Luis de Onís y González-Vara. Since Spain couldn't deal with Latin rebels and the United States at the same time, they agreed to give Florida to the United States for 5 million. Spain would also give up Oregon Country as well.</h1><div><br></div>]]></description>
