5.) Having a relationship with a pet is beneficial to both the owner and the pet.
6.)  People with dogs seem to get ill less frequently and less severely than people with no pets.
7.) Pets are a major source of support and increase the ability to cope, which contributes to keeping cholesterol and blood pressure down.
8.) Studies have also shown that looking a dog in the eyes can boost levels of oxytocin (a hormone involved in social bonding), in both the person and the dog.
9.) Another example would be service dogs.
