Sandy Hook shooting

The Sandy Hook shooting in the Obama Era affected the rest of America by having more gun control. Sandy Hook was a tragic shooting that occurred in 2012, that could have possibly been prevented with more gun control laws in place. Adam Lanza was an extremely mentally ill person, and had abysmal social skills; his mother is even quoted saying that he never left the house even during a hurricane, he stayed in the home which put himself and his mother in danger because she had to stay with him. One of the major issues with this topic is gun control; gun control is constantly debated about what weapons should be allowed and which weapons should be limited to military use only. Many Americans responded to the tragic shooting by requesting change for more restricted gun control because someone like Lanza should never be able to touch a firearm, let alone have one in his home that is easily accessible. After the shooting Connecticut acted very swiftly and immediately implemented new gun control laws that would prevent people like Lanza from getting their hands on firearms.

How the Obama Era changed America after Sandy Hook

The Obama Era changed society as a whole and it has still changed us today by implementing new and more strict firearm laws. After the Sandy Hook shooting the state of Connecticut immediately reacted to this by creating new gun laws that were the most rigorous out of all states in the United States, this is still affecting us today by allowing us to have safer environments and public places. President Obama eventually decided to address these horrific shootings by visiting the victims of the shootings and offering them his condolences, he also visited some of the survivors of these shootings, and after hearing the terrifying things that these survivors had to witness Obama decided to pass stricter gun laws, which made it so a person could not easily buy a firearm and had to go through more checks. By doing this the amount of shootings lowered and helped create a safer environment for many people. This still affects us today by having safer streets and neighborhoods and helping keep our schools safe.

Was the death of Osama Bin Laden worth all of the resources spent?

Osama Bin Laden committed one of the largest atrocities on American soil since Pearl Harbor, so the United States actively began to search for the leaders and others who helped this attack carry out. So they started a war in the Middle East where the terrorist group was said to be. The issue with this was the amount of total lives lost in the hunt for Osama Bin Laden and other terror groups, and the resources that were spent during the hunt for Osama. The major issue with this topic is the varying opinions among people, some Americans may say that it was unnecessary to hunt for Bin Laden because of the many lives lost and the resources used in the hunt. But many say it was necessary to hunt down terror across the globe and show that it has no place anywhere and anybody who would attempt to commit attacks like these against democratic nations would be found and punished. Many Americans first responded to this attack by supporting the war on terror across the globe mainly in the Middle East. After the war though some started to regret the United States getting involved in this war because of the trauma that civilians in the Middle East experienced, there were also other reasons like the amount of money spent and amount of lives lost during the war on terror.

How did the Obama Era change 9/11?

The Obama Era changed the course of Osama Bin Laden's life and 9/11 by hunting him down and killing him. Osama Bin Laden had seemingly escaped with these horrendous crimes until Obama decided to hunt him down. This still affects America today by giving many people a sense of closure and pride when Osama died, because many American lives were taken on 9/11. There was no culprit or person to blame at the time for this tragedy, but when Bin Laden was killed there was finally some sense of remorse for the victims and families of victims of 9/11. My topic still connects today because the death of a mass murderer and a terrorist leader (Osama Bin Laden) discouraged terror organizations and groups across the world. It also made these groups realize that any terror attacks will be addressed and resolved.
