1. Last year, I made a friend in my philosophy class. We frequently talked about what we learnt in class together. One day we were having lunch and there was the opportunity for me to share my with him about how God changed my life after I came to know Christ. I also asked him later on if he wanted to read the bible together with me.
2. I could see that my friend was a "thinker" - he was seeking the meaning of life and was really into philosophy, and I wanted for him to come to know the truth of the gospel and the real purpose of life.
3. My friend sort of gave me the "that's great for you" answer hahah.. he agreed to read the bible with me, but after 3 bible studies I could tell he wasn't very keen on continuing/ he was not ready to respond to the gospel. I didn't want to be pushy and unloving, so I stopped asking him to join me for bible studies.
4. Sharing my testimony wasn't too difficult, but creating opportunities for him to come to know Christ for himself was really really hard. I was often very disappointed and very saddened by his cold, detached responses and how adamant he was at viewing Christianity and the Bible in an unaffected way.
5. I felt sad and a bit defeated HAHA. I wondered whether I just needed to be smarter/ more convincing in order for my friend to believe. I felt like I wasn't well-read enough to share the gospel. I felt like I was an ineffective Christian...
But thank God it didn't stop there haha. Through this experience I came to realise that only the Holy Spirit can open people's eyes and hearts and I needed to trust in God's power rather than my own. I also learnt that even if people don't believe in the gospel the first time they hear it, it isn't a "failure" and I'm not a "failure". God is in control. He will call people to Himself in His time. I think I also realised that although God may not have used this time to reveal Himself to my friend, He definitely used it to test my faith for my growth as a Christian and for me to be humbled :)

I went to Thailand with my family and DG, to this place called CDC, which was operated by one of our DG member's brother. We sang carols and did a lot of christmas parties for the burmese there, and we did some gift giving and went to different schools(held game booths there) There were some chidren who were there for the food and games, but were absent during the sharing of gospel and such. So what the children of our DG did was play alot (and i mean a LOT) of soccer with them and eventually coaxed them to come for the gospel sharing. (we got trashed super badly even by the small children)

what i really enjoyed was playing soccer (even though we go trashed) and the christmas carols (even though i accidentally walked into a lampost while looking at the lyric sheet)and the food there was nice
One thing i didnt enjoy was the fact that it was really tiring and we had to wake up early a lot :(

I learnt that there was actually quite a lot of discrimination against the burmese there, and quite a lot of them dropped out of school to help with their family(some of them went to CDC as they were teaching english and other lang. there) I also learned that Uncle jason(the one operating CDC) had been living in Thailand for the duration of his mission work. It must have been hard for him to stay away from his mother and friends in SG for many years. His daughter and wife, who were staying with him must have had a hard time too. His daughter had had to be homeschooled for very long . T_T. W also learned that they had stuggled with funding a lot when starting, and a lot of discrimination as well. In a nutshell, i learned that the dedication that goes into the mission work is of an immeasurable amount.

They won the majority of seats in the state legislature in Uttar Pradesh, the most populated region of India. As they gained influence, the BJP began passing anti-Christian legislation. They supported extremist groups that attacked Christians and has pledged to introduce national legislation to restrict “missionary” activity and halt evangelism efforts. In india, churches have been vandalized, bombed, and set on fire, and church leaders have been beaten and threatened all with the hope of forcing Christians to renounce their faith in Jesus. These are some difficulties faced for christian missionaries in India.
We can pray for India about spreading Christianity to other Indian citizens. We can also pray for BJP to stop harassing Christians. We can also pray for more Indians to support Christianity.

Will ask her through the week.

Joys: Relying heavily on God for her outreach. Amazed at God answering prayers, opening doors, exhilarating to be able to share the gospel with many many people and see lives changed.

Difficulties: Adjusting to a new life in Japan. Ministry difficulties - Japanese people's 'shame' culture and 'fitting in' culture. Tough for a Japanese Christian being willing to stand up for their faith.

Lessons learnt: God has a big big heart for the Japanese people.

How we can pray for her: Pray for God to strengthen the Christian church in Japan.

Joash
Every year (if possible) I usually go to the Chiang Mai district of Thailand with my family and friends to do mission work for the Shan tribe. Normally we go there for one week and we conduct medical clinics to help the villagers there. Then along the way we also tell them about the gospel and pray for them. There’s a church there where we help to serve in while we’re there. Last year, we conducted a camp for a school there (kind of like kidzania), where we showed them what it is like to be working, as well as teach them some basic English phrases.

I enjoy helping the people in the village through the medical clinics, I normally help with measuring their blood pressure weight and height, sorting through the medical records and packing and distributing medicine. There’s not really much that I don’t enjoy, apart from the food options being limited so the meals can be repetitive.

I learnt that some of the young children are actually quite receptive and willing to learn about the gospel, more so than the older people. Sadly this year I can’t go because of the COVID-19 situation.
